We popped in for lunch and had the Spanish platter. It not looked beautiful but tasted amazing. The fresh produce, the generous amount and the flavours were just sublime.
Very friendly, good service, clean and well presented.
We shall come again.

Our 3rd visit to this little Restaurant.
Brilliant service and food. Really good value as well.
Highly recommend the seafood paella - really tasty. They even did it without mussels specially for us.

Living fairly locally- we had seen this place open, change names and then be recommended by friends in Edinburgh- so finally got around to trying it. Let's make this review The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
The Good: nice location, not huge but tables well layed out and plenty of room. Good menu- not huge but why not do 10 things well, instead of 20 things poorly. Good fresh ingredients and varied choice. Good selection of beers/wines. Good friendly service. We ordered ham, cheese, seabass, tapas. All served very quickly and was tasty and well cooked. Being regular visitors to the Canaries it was nice to see influences and speciality dishes such as mojo sauce..
** The Bad: rolls were served with starter- unfortunately these were obviously part baked rolls, from a packet- which still needed some baking.. home baked bread and rolls would be VERY welcome addition. Not difficult and makes all the difference. Dessert menu was very disappointing- mainly cakes/afternoon tea items. Where was the creme caramel or fresh tarts/flans, even a chocolate mousse? Meringue and strawberries were OK, but overpriced and did not feel fresh. Cream could have been better
**The Ugly: napkins. Only a little thing- but the serviettes/napkins were the consistency of kitchen roll and fell apart as quickly!
Overall- it was good, and we would recommend, but would like to see some little changes to make it better than the rest. Every table was full which was good to see and obviously well liked- a worthwhile addition to the few decent restaurants around Berwick and hope to see it stay with us for a while.

Good, friendly service, good value food and wine. Lamb and cous cous could be improved by addition of vegetables and less lamb.

My husband and I visited El Taperio on Saturday night and managed to get a table in this buzzing little restaurant. I started with a glass of the house red which was full bodied and reasonably priced. I then ordered chicken in white wine and garlic which was served with rice and chips! Portions are very good value for money. My husband ordered a few starter/tapas dishes which he thoroughly enjoyed.
The best thing however was the atmosphere. The lighting was perfect with a few candles glowing and some gentle spanish music, it really felt like a little piece of Spain.
Would highly recommend this one.
