Heading back from a break in Perthshire we stopped here for an overnight stay. Just off the main A1 and a couple of miles north of Berwick Upon Tweed the driveway down to the hotel leads to a peaceful setting and a short walk from the sea. We arrived early afternoon and were quickly checked in and settled in our room, which was room 4 with dual aspect and bright and sunny. The room had 2 comfortable chairs as well as a work surface and drawers and a double free standing wardrobe. The bathroom was large and well appointed with a great powerful shower over the bath. We dined in the hotel and enjoyed a delicious 3 course dinner with a very good Romanian wine which accompanied our food choices very well. The menu is varied and interesting with a couple of daily specials and pre-ceeded by a drink in the adjacent fully stocked bar. After a good nights sleep we settled down for the Northumbrian style breakfast which was again delicious and with cereals, fruit and toast sets you up for the day ahead nicely. Room 4 was a superior room and this with 3 course dinner, drinks, wine and breakfast cost £215, very good value. The Georgian building has been a number of things over the years and is progressing very well as a country hotel. As you may expect the upkeep is always challenging with old properties but nothing to detract from rating this as excellent. Would definitely use again and commend it to the house.

Room tip: Room 4 has double aspect.

My daughter, her 5 month old daughter and myself have just returned from a short break at Marshall Meadows and we had a lovely time. It’s a beautiful old building and gorgeous gardens. We had a lovely cosy bedroom and the lounge and dining room were both really lovely. The food was great and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. Anita told us lots of places to visit and we followed her advice and had lots of places to see
. We can’t wait to stay again

I recently stayed at Marshall Meadows hotel with a group of friends and found the hotel to be welcoming and very conveniently located, just off the A1. There is ample free parking. In the room, I liked the corner bath, with loads of hot water, the very comfortable bed, and the amazing view. Less good, however, was the lack of space to put anything (toiletries etc) in the bathroom, and the 'variable' reception on the small in-room TV. The communal rooms such as the bar, restaurant, and sitting room are all beautiful and welcoming. There is a farm next to the hotel and the grounds and country roads are perfect for a quiet stroll. The breakfast, served in the main restaurant, is buffet to start (fresh fruit, cereal etc) then a variety of cooked options to order. A wider vegetarian option would have been welcome, but the eggs were beautifully cooked. Because we were a large group, our dinners were served in a large room at the rear of the hotel obviously used for wedding receptions. The service was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. The standard of the food was generally good. I would have given this review five stars however, on check in, I discovered that my room hadn't been properly cleaned. This had obviously been a mistake (the bed wasn't made up and the towels were used etc.), but it took from 3.15 to 5.15 p.m. for this to be rectified, as cleaning staff live some way away from the hotel. I was offered a complimentary cup of tea, but a two hour wait to check in was disappointing. Nevertheless I did enjoy the weekend and would certainly return.

Room tip: All rooms are quiet but some have better views than others.

Me and my boyfriend we really enjoyed our stay at Marshall Meadows hotel.
Lovely warm rooms, beautiful lobby and sitting room. Hotel is 3 minutes from sea, farm next to it. (Very quiet and beautiful)
Ive also forgot my jacket in the hotel, but staff managed to organise a delivery for me and received my jacket next day. Thanks for Anita!
Lady in housekeeping also was really nice.
Most important why we booked this hotel because it is a dog friendly place!!
Thank you for that!
Full breakfast was great, but Eggs Benedict disappointed a little bit..
We would love to come back in the future!!

Pleasant large bedroom. Good location to go walking (or running|) along the coastal path. Nice grounds to wander around.
Where possible, food items are purchased from local companies including Chain Bridge Honey Farm. I had poached eggs the first morning and they were so good I chose them again the second morning. Husband enjoyed his porridge made to order.
The evening meals we had were excellent too.
