“Yummy homemade cakes for a great afternoon tea!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2012 via mobile

Oxford Farm makes lovely soups, scones, afternoon teas, cakes and tray bakes! A homely cafe where the food is always fresh and the staff smiling! In the summer you can also pick your own fruit. There jams are also lovely!

“traditional home cooking and baking at its best !- Such value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

I have sent many people to this place who have been holidaying with me. They all say the same thing.
How old fashioned the place is
How splendid the meals and cakes are
How reasonably priced it is.
Yes the decor etc is old fashioned, but don't let that put you off. I go often with friends, with my young children or my husband.
The scones are HUGE. The meringues melt in the mouth. .
There is a 2 course lunch special which changes everyday. We love the "stovies" a Scottish stew type dish. Full of flavour and piled high on the plate. Then Apple crumble and custard filling the whole bowl.
There is also a childrens party meal. Sandwhiches, cheese, marshmallows dipped in chocolate. scone, cake. Then jelly and ice cream and a drink of juice at the unbelieveable price of £3.50.
There is a shop where you can buy all their home made jams, cakes, biscuits and meringues etc. I use all their jams at my B&B and everyone comments on them. Try their shortbread biscuits- yummy
They also make lovely hampers at Christmas.
My advice is- go and try this place, it's easy to find - just off the A1, not on a Monday though! they are closed.
If i lived nearer this place, i would be there every week

“Excellent Old Fashioned Home Cooking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

Tied stopping at the Oxford Farm Shop into a cycle ride and cannot believe I haven't been there before. We opted for the all day afternoon tea...sandwiches, a scone of choice, cakes & a meringue. Great value and we had to wrap up the cakes and take them home as we just couldn't manage. Everything was homemade and of very good quality. The dining room itself is in keeping with the menu, but spacious. The staff are very friendly and efficient. We sat and watched a steady flow of older customers arrive from 12 noon...they have obviously been much more on the ball than we have and I am sure the cafe have very regular customers...which is a group I intend to join.

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

Found this place by accident and decided to try a lunch on the off chance. What a pleasant suprise, a nice seating area, very pleasant staff and food to die for.

Its not haute cuisine, but then again that isn't what you visit a tea room for. What you get is well prepared, well cooked food that is of a standard you dont normally get in this type of establishment. You can tell how good it is by the number of people eating there (on Sundays you have to book for lunch as there is usually no spare tables).

The portions are large enough for me (I have a voracious appetite) and I always feel that I have had value for money. The only difficulty is that you pay for your meal in the shop area which means running the gauntlet of the craft goods, 'home made' biscuits, shortbread, preserves etc which are as good as they look.

Have reccomended this place to friends and family and all have visited and been happy. Give it a try, you have nothing to loose apart from your slim waistline !
