“Fantastic and friendly”

Having stayed last year in a clear trip, my girlfriend and I decided to drop by and see if there was a room available. They couldn't be more welcoming despite being caught at short notice - a lovely top class place to stay

I'm back in berwick working again so I stayed with Ian and Sandra again as they always make me feel very welcome. Sadly this time I was working days so having to get up at 4am for work I was unable to have one of Ian's amazing full English breakfasts he did however make me some nice sandwiches which I took to work for lunch. The house looks even more welcoming inside now as the Xmas decs are all up and the spiral staircase is all lit up with lights so it looks great in the dark. Always a pleasure to stay here and look forward to my 4th visit so I can discuss more Doctor who geeky stuff with fellow whovian Sandra :D

Received a warm welcome from Sandra on arrival. We were quickly sorted out with parking permit and shown to room at the top of the fantastic staircase. Room 1 was spacious well decorated and spotlessly clean. Nice touches of bottled water and decent biscuits on the tea/coffee tray. Breakfast was well cooked and presented and served in the dining room which has the biggest log burner I've seen!

The location is perfect, just a minutes stroll from the centre of town but very quiet. Highly recommended.

The plan was to do some sightseeing around town and also to venture onto the coastal paths. Tha Anchorage proved to be a perfect choice. Right on the doorstep for pubs and resaurants but in a very quiet street. In addition the quality of the accomodation was superb. The friendly hosts are knowledgable and proud of their town and its history. A real antidote to the blandness often found in the hotel industry.

I really enjoyed my stay in what is a marvelously preserved Georgian style house, spread across three levels, connected by a continuous sweeping staircase with a showpiece dome at the top! Really has to be seen and admired. The owners were most helpful and friendly, and Sandra's knowledge of local history allowed me to make the most of Berwick's rich heritage and tourist attractions in the limited time I had. Sandra even managed to find a photograph in one of her many books of a local property I am familiar with, as it looked 100 years ago. I am very grateful. In all a very pleasant experience and highly recommended.

Stayed here on our tour. Ian and Sandra were fab. The house history and local area. Breakfast, the best I have had on tour. Great people, great place and great fluffy pups. Tell Jake I still adore him! Also, if you like Dr Who or theatre, then have a wee night in the Barrels with them...great chat. Thank you both. X
