“Wow simply wow”

My partner, my daughter and I called on to the queens head for Sunday lunch and were greeted with a very friendly and helpful waitress who made sure she could accommodate for our buggy. We had a drink at the very charismatic bar area before being taken to our table the place was very busy and yet still felt relaxed. When our meal was served it simply had that WOW factor and was the best Sunday lunch your ever likely to get anywhere please go down and try it highly recommended

Many thanks for your kind words monkfish. We are pleased we made your Sunday lunch with the family a happy & pleasurable one. To say its the best Sunday lunch you have ever had is high compliments indeed. We like to think we offer 'value for money' in using local seasonal produce & standards start from the top but you are only as good as your staff certainly does bare some truth. Thanks again & will pass on your gratitude to all staff concerned.

“Very Dissapointing”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

We visited the Queens Head for Sunday lunch, and were given a lovely table, next to the window, as requested. So far so good. My husband and his elderly father ordered smoked haddock fish cakes for starters which were very nice indeed. For the main meal my husband and his parents ordered the roast beef dinner while I opted for the pork loin meal. Three roast beef dinners arrived at the table, two with two generous slices of beef, a yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, the third plate had the same but the size of the beef slices was significantly smaller. The pork loin arrived on a huge plate and the serving was miniscule to say the least. Two slices of pork which wouldn't have covered the palm of my hand if placed side by side and roast potatoes. The vegetables were served separately. The beef was tough, chewy and not very nice at all. The pork loin was 50% fat and not something I would expect from a restaurant that gets so many recommendations. We decided to stick with it and ordered 3 desserts because we were all still hungry. My father in law who is in his eighties decided to go to the toilet in between courses, unfortunately the toilets were located up 2 narrow flight of stairs and he had a fall, tripping over the step at the top banging his head badly. In their favour the staff said it was perfectly okay to cancel the desserts and we left to take my father in law home. The bill was over £50 pound, including 2 half shandies and a pint. Not good value for money at all, we won't be going back.

“very good food”

this was recommended by our Hosts and proved to be great. We were not disappointed as the food, service and atmostphere was perfect. Another bonus was that it was a very short walk from the Granary guest house.

Thanks Jan for your review. Guessing coming from the Netherlands your passing through either way to or from Scotland. We try to cover all our customers needs with regards to a varied menu. Using fresh local seasonal produce dishes can be slightly changed to peoples needs especially if they have any intolerances. We pleased we made your visit to Berwick a happy one & hope to see you again in the future on your way through the town. Thanks again.
