“A great family break away”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013

Spent the last week at Berwick Holiday Centre, and have to say I was very pleasantly surprised.

It was our first time in a Haven holiday resort, and did not know what to expect.

Check in was smooth and flawless, and we got into the van an hour early.

The whole park was immaculate, and this extended into the van, 54 Alnwick Close

One main problem was the unseasonable cold weather, never reaching above 3'C at all, but I had been pre warned, and a couple of heaters helped us out.

Any time we called reception for a query, or advice they were very helpful, and quick to attend. (someone came over within 3 minutes to show us how to install the travel cot)

There were a few niggles, but nothing to detract from the holiday.

Firstly, the cleaners had forgotten to clean the frying pan. It was thick with grease, and we didn't use it.

Secondly, the prices in the show bar and entertainments area were shockingly steep. just under £10 for a pint, a vodka and mixer and a soft drink,.... also the machines were all at least a pound. Try telling an excited four year old he cant play on the toy train..

Those minor points aside (we had been expecting some issues) we had a great time. Couldn't fault the staff, and are making plans to come back as soon as we can.

It is such a handy location, and a well run lovely clean and tidy park.

Thank you Haven Holidays.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and away from the entertainments complex.

My family and I have just returned from a 4 night break (mon-fri) at Berwick Holiday Park. We booked a Prestige caravan at a cost of around £200 for the break. Upon arrival check in was easily located and clearly sign posted within the main complex, we arrived early (1.15pm) and were greeted by friendly staff who allowed us our keys early as the caravan had already been cleaned. We were given instructions on where to find our caravan which was located at 17 Borders Close behind the complex and opposite the swimming pool, We felt that this was quite a poor location to be in and a little noisy at times.

The caravan itself was quite basic and have stayed in many much nicer ones it only has a gas fire in the lounge and little warm air blowers in the bedrooms which are quite ineffective definately would not recommend with young children as it was absolutely freezing most of the time which required us to hire another heater from main reception this cost us a further £3 per night and helped slightly. Should also mention that Prestige caravans are generally not double glazed.

The park itself was clean and mostly litter free we noticed several staff litter picking, The main complex as with all Haven parks it accessed mostly through the funworks arcade and contains a fish and chip shop, Mash and Barrel restaurant, Showbar, and swimming pools both indoor and outdoor .Also on site there is a Spar shop and gift shop, Launderette, two play parks 1 next to the outdoor pool and 1 next to the beach access point on the far side of the park both are quite basic and could do with improvements.

This park offers some lovely sea views if you are lucky enough to be located near the front of the park and a golf course on the parks boundaries,

All in all it is one one of Havens smaller parks with friendly and hard working staff, we enjoyed our stay apart from the weather but thats not Havens fault! so would recommend to families wanting a more quite break away but still with plenty to do for the younger ones.

Room Tip: Always book a high grade of accommodation especially if travelling with young children central heati...

Been to this park several times and each time I think the same thing "not sure if i would go back". Can't remember the "title" of the caravan but even with the fire on and heating all day it was freezing, no double glazing or central heating just air heaters in the bedrooms. We took sleeping bags and hot water bottles but were still freezing - my teeth were actually chattering when in the lounge even although gas fire was on and i had a sleeping bag round me.

Ok, they can't help this unseasonal cold weather, but none of my family thawed out once!

Severe lack of cooking utensils/equipment. I phoned on monday for a colander and am still waiting on it. Not everyone eats take-away or microwave meals.

The tractor went about the park from 7.30 am until 10.30 am replacing people's gas bottles. So no good if you wanted a long lie or early night.

There was also a strange feeling about the park. A feeling of not being "safe" - they have the barrier down from 7 pm until 11pm as the attendant told us there had been some "incidents" - but not sure what.

The van was lovely and clean and beds made up with plates set out on the dining table so it looked lovely on arrival.

Our gas bottle ran out on the first morning and it was replaced within 20 minutes.

No problem with the cleanliness of the caravan, but would recommend going for the best level you can afford. Decent duvet provided. Too cold for us to stay the full 3 nights we'd booked unfortunately, one heater in the lounge and even then could still see our breath in the air brrrrrr. Park was ok, fair few things to do for kids in nicer weather and the usual arcades etc. Right on cliff top with small beach below and Berwick a nice little town to visit, easily walkable across the back to the right and under the bridge. Just go when it's warm!!

We went for a 3 day break from Friday 22nd March. We booked 2 prestige caravans for our family, we were due to check in at 2pm but went to reception a little earlier to see if could get keys early. We were given keys to two caravans in Border Close number 8 and 10, the 2 bedroom one was basic and defiantly not prestige, the 3 bedroom one stunk of smoke as soon as we opened the door and again was basic and not prestige. I went straight back to reception and asked to be moved as I didn't think the caravans we had been allocated were prestige, they changed us with no problems to The Cheviots, these caravans were lovely, the heating didn't work in one of them and the fire was broken in the other but within a few hours both caravan problems were sorted. We went out every nit with our 2 year old Daughter and thought the Funstars were great. The entertainment after 9 clock is more for adults but before then they do party dances & the characters come out. They now have a roadio bull in the corner which is on until about 9, it's £3 for 2 turns. If you want a seat at the front near dance floor you need to be out for 6.10 pm. We ate in the Mash and Barrel, food was ok but the Maccoroni Cheese was tinned. In the bar you can get 4 bottles of VK for just under £13, a pint was about £3.50. Teddy Bear machines are getting more fixed every year, we never seen one person win any the full weekend! Would advise taking a heater even if you have a caravan with heating in all rooms as it probably took about 8 hours for the caravan to warm up, if you have booked a caravan with no heating i would either upgrade or take a heater for each room. Will defiantly be booking to come back to Berwick.

I had asked on booking for a caravan away from club but was allocated one directly opposite it. We were kept waiting for another one to be "cleaned". It was filthy. Mould on the double bedroom wall. Rusty kitchen utensils. Leaking shower. That's just for starters. Have been four times but had cause for complaint twice. Will not be back
