The Staff are WONDERFUL! They were very welcoming and helpful. The price was great for our accomidation. Clean and well taken care of, though the rooms where a bit small. Both Dinner and Breakfast in the Hotel resturant was very pleasing. Wish I could have taken them with me the rest of our trip! Definately would stay here again. :)

This was a perfect overnight stop for us travelling up to The Open from Yorkshire, ideally located by the A1.Smooth check in,was such nice weather, left our bags in our room then off to Seahouses for fish and chips,so did not try the restaurant but it looked nice.room was fine for our needs, water was nice and hot for bath.View from the room overlooking fields.was very comfortable, despite heat wave,so had a good nights sleep. We enjoyed omelettes for breakfast in the cafe next door.
Would not hesitate to use again as a comfortable, economical and convenient stop to or from Scotland.

Like other reviewers, we were shocked by the appearance and location of this motel, adjacent to a truck stop directly on the A1. However, we were checked in quickly by a very friendly young woman and allocated to the type of room that we had pre-booked. All the rooms look out onto fields and road noise was not a big problem, even though we had the window wide open in this lovely July weather. We did have some major issues that we reported to the receptionist: the mattresses were simply not fit for purpose and ready for the skip. The central row of springs had relocated somewhere, but not to where they should be. Unfortunately, we didn't realise this until we were ready to get into bed. The mattress was to my body what a hot dog bun is to its sausage: wrapped around it. Also, the fan did not work in the bathroom, so we got steamed up very quickly and it smelt damp. On the plus side, in the morning the receptionist immediately contacted the owner when we pointed out the problems and we were not charged for our breakfast. We don't want to put people off staying here, because the staff are very friendly and the food in the restaurant (which has the 5/5 official cleanliness rating) is good. But when you arrive, check your room thoroughly before you unpack.

Room Tip: Choose a top floor room away from the staircase end if you like to sleep with the window open becaus...

Stayed here with 2 teenagers in June before we got to our caravan. Its centrally situated in a lovely part of the world and easily found.
We had a family room with an ensuite bathroom, bath & shower yayyy.
Very clean and good facilities. the room wasn't huge with a double and two single beds but enough room to have our cases in.
We had dinner at the cafe next door as the restaurant was a little too pricey for our budget. The cafe was clean and well organised, our food arrived promptly and was good.
We slept well, and had lovely views of the coastline from our window
Breakfast was a little disorganized, there didn't seem to be enough staff on to cope and we got our cooked breakfast (book it with your room- its cheaper) but in dribs and drabs, and we had to ask for more milk and hot drinks as there wasn't enough.
But overall, a good budget stay

Room Tip: There isn't a lift so ask if you need a room on the ground floor. Our room was literally the fur...

We booked a two night stay at the Purdy on a KGB deal and I have to say that as we approached from the South my heart sank - the first sight you get is a truck stop with traditional bumpy parking area and a somewhat windswept petrol forecourt. No need to worry though as the lodge itself has a nice tidy car park and looked very nice from the outside. Inside we were greeted by a very nice lady on Reception. She said our room wasn't quite ready and while we did the paperwork she regaled with tales of lambing time and where best to buy ice cream in Seahouses (these things are important).
By which time our room was ready.
Bright and very clean, nothing fancy but plenty of room for a couple of nights. Now I did think that as the front of the hotel is only about ten yards from the A1 we'd be plagued with traffic noise but the rooms face to the rear and even with the window open it was very quiet. From the room we had a view over a field of wheat to the sea some five miles away with an added bonus of a resident hare that was often to be seen skipping around between the rows.
Dinner was very good. Plenty of choice well presented and served. We had a bottle of house merlot and that was very good and at a sensible price.
Breakfasts followed the pattern, plenty of choice and cooked to order.

Four of us stayed for two nights (fri and sat), and it couldn't have been better. From the young lady booking us in, to the bar staff and waitresses. The exterior of the hotel was really nice, despite the main road position. All the rooms have a view overlooking Bamburgh Castle, and the surrounding countryside. Stay was perfect from start to finish, and we will definately be returning.
