You’d be right to wonder just how they can assemble a menu of this size and choice and still produce every single dish of such excellent quality. Maybe it’s Northumberland magic. More likely it’s the extremely talented chef and owner. Either way, they pull it off.
The food’s probably the best you can get for miles. Take that monkfish, prawn and salmon curry: it can hold its own against the cuisine served in upscale London restaurants, but it’s about 40% cheaper. Plus Sandra the waitress and barmaid is, like her male colleague, really nice.
If you haven’t been to The White Swan, go. Go now. And, if you’re visiting before Christmas, say hello to the two friendly turkeys wandering in the car park.

Just had our evening meal in the White Swan and everything about it was wonderful. Without a doubt the best meal I have had of any cuisine for ages. My starter of beetroot aged salmon, king prawn, white crab meat, melon, Apple and a horseradish drizzle was master chef quality. My main.....sirloin steak was cooked to my absolute liking and I finished with a summer pudding to die for. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and were prepared for a mediocre meal. Finding cuisine of this quality anywhere would have been a challenge. We chose it from a list of local eateries provided by the guest house where we were staying and checked it out as ever on Tripadvisor and local foodie website. The review were excellent so we booked a table. Don't think we expected it to be so good. The chef is the female owner. Hats off to her. If you are in the area, don't miss it. The staff have to have a mention. To a one they were attentive, cheerful and smiling and so willing to engage. Made the evening even more special. Service is quick but not rushed. Great value for money. Just hope that it doesn't change because I intend coming back in the future.

We chose The White Swan for our evening meal based upon reviews on this site. We weren't disappointed! Friendly staff, and nice surroundings (not cramped) with excellent food. We tried a selection of all three courses and every one was good. Would recommend a visit.

This is a find. From the telephone booking the food and the service, all are excellent. The lady who took the booking was polite and efficient, we arrived on a very wet Friday, plenty of parking and a quick dash inside. Bar staff asked if we would like to go to our table or drink in the bar, we went to the table. Restaurant staff were attentive and were about throughout our meal. Food was lovely. I like fish and was not disappointed, scallops to start followed by plaice, hubby had prawn tian then liver. All well cooked and served. Two starters, two mains, two large glasses of wine for me, and a pint, bill was under £70, we feel it was good value. We will return

Visited here with family recently. We were the only people in their at first then a few locals arrived.

Drinks were okay. Glasses weren’t particularly clean.

Lunch was okay. Not value for money. Brioche bun was on menu but found out had run out when food was served... poor quality alternative offered.
