“Comfortable, cosy cottage in quiet location”

We stayed here for a week 6-13 June. It's a great little cottage, well equipped, very comfortable and cosy and in a quiet cul-de-sac. The owners are very thoughtful and had left a welcome card, cake and a pint of milk in the fridge for us so that we could make ourselves a cup of tea on arrival - and following a long drive from the West Midlands, it was very welcome! While we sat in the lounge, we were entertained by the swallows that were nesting and feeding their young in the roof of the covered patio area! The garden is kept very tidy and overlooks the fields towards the coast. The free Wi-Fi in the cottage is a nice bonus.

The Sands is ideally located in a quiet village, and the perfect base for exploring the area. We were fortunate to have fabulous weather and filled every day going out and about walking and visiting local attractions. It's an easy walking distance from The Sands to Beadnell Harbour and its beautiful beach. In the village there are two hotels/pubs, The Craster Arms and Beadnell Towers - both have great menus and the food is delicious! There is also a little "corner shop" a few minutes walk from the cottage, and a fish and chip shop.

Seahouses is a very short drive away (or a good walk along the beach), which has lots of lovely shops, restaurants, coffee houses, The Ship pub, and a Co-op supermarket for a bigger food shop.

We loved the cottage - it was perfect!

Thank you for your helpful review and kind comments. The swallows are back after they missed last year - we noticed they have small, hungry chicks now. They do provide bonus entertainment!

Thank you for your kind comments. Beadnell is a special place to get away from it all but without being completely isolated.

Liked best: comfy beds, bright and clean, tasteful nautical/local decoration in the cottage, safe garden, great location
Liked least: boys disappointed there was no DVD player but we were hardly in anyway - if we'd had bad weather it may have been an issue, they would have had to play together!!

We're really pleased you enjoyed our cottage. The second bedroom is small and hence the bunk beds which we had specially made and although they are adult sized they don't compromise the remaining space in the room that much and we think they are worth having. That said, the room is probably more suited to children because of the size restriction and we have therefore amended the property description to point this out. Thank you for this constructive feedback and also the nice things you said about our cottage. I will keep you up to date on the swallows as previously promised.
