Dreadfully disappointing evening in the restaurant. Service was poor, ignored for an age at reception, food comprised plates of mass-produced stodge, child's meal was too spiced with faux mash potato, wine was cheap and poor quality, To be avoided, especially when compared with other establishments in the village.

Stayed one night in hotel, Sunday lst September till Monday 2nd. Just a short break away.
Although a very old building, nicely decorated throughout. We did not have an evening
meal at hotel but the full English breakfast the next morning was ample. Served hot
with 2 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, black pudding, tomato, baked beans, hash browns and
the famous Bamburgh banger sausage from the local butcher. Fruit juice, grapefruit
segments and cereal to start with. Also a choice of scrambled eggs or kippers if
you do not wish to have the full English.
Room was on the back, no 8 a standard double room. Staff friendly too

Room Tip: We were in no 8 a standard double on the back of hotel, very quiet. There are premier rooms such a...

The Lord Crewe is nearest to the Bamburgh Castle, when we arrived no tables in the bar area were available so we were seated in the hotel restaurant, which has more stylish ocean themed decoration.
Service was average, although the standard of cooking was good but it failed on portion sizes. Making rather expensive affair.
I would imagine most establishment in Bamburgh rely on tourist trade, if any business is charging high prices, they especially need to make their customers feel they get good value for money.

Great location on the main street in the pretty village of Bamburgh.
Modern décor throughout the hotel. Only standard rooms available when we booked. Bedroom nicely furnished but the bathroom was not up to standard - more like what you get in a 2 star/budget hotel. No space to put your washbag down & horrible industrial lino on floor. Shower was good with quality toiletries including body lotion which you don't get in many other places.
Dining room is nicely furnished but the problem is it's too hot - no airflow throughout the hotel which makes it uncomfortable.
Bar is comfy and again modern décor.
Staff are friendly.
Breakfast choice is good but eggs overcooked each morning. Food at dinner is just ok - pub standard rather than restaurant (greasy chips!)
All in all a nice hotel but it could be much better if bathrooms were brought up to same standard as bedrooms/rest of hotel & the food was improved.
Parking can also be tricky as insufficient spaces for the number of rooms so it's first come first served.

Room Tip: Don't go for standard room.

We ate here twice - the first time was reasonable and the meal was OK - the Lamb was a little under cooked as I like it falling off the bone - a table near ours sent her meal back (alarm bells?)
We booked for the Friday evening - before we traveled to the lakes for our 2nd week
Drinks fine - they brought a repeat order from the bar so I had to refuse a double order. No bread without asking - table next door got theirs immediately. I requested my veg to be a little more cooked as they were very hard the previous visit - no problem said the waitress. Finally after ordering my wife's pasta arrived - no sauce at all and dry - mine arrived - chicken but no veg - A young waiter checked with the kitchen it will only be minutes - IT NEVER ARRIVED. I called the manager over - she listened to the fact the service was shocking the veg was ?????? my wifes pasta I got a sorry and I could not understand why we did not get an alternative (major issue is my wife has been ill and is selective re her meals - As we left the waiting staff held their heads down not even a sorry and goodnight. AVOID. Total let down we will NOT be back

We had our first meal out of our holiday here, and were rather disappointed with both the food and the service. The experience started badly as they had run out of menus, and we had to wait quite a while until some became available! The potted crab starter was very good, but the chicken and apricot terrine was hard and tasteless, with large chunks of apricot and the whole thing marred by the balsamic vinegar glaze and too much dressing on the salad. The sea bass in the main course was well cooked, but again marred by the balsamic glaze and chunks of raw red onion in the sauce. Panna cotta and cheesecake were bland, and served with jugs with a huge amount of cream! During the course of the meal we were served by five dfferent people, and the service was indifferent.
