Our first visit for dinner at Mizen Head was 18 months ago,not long after new owners had taken over and refurb completed.Highly recommended by our biased local B&B owner,we forgave the poor service and average food as teething problems.
However, our second visit last week found no improvement in service and the much vaunted food a disappointment.
Not that the staff were impolite but there was just not enough of them.
The quirkily dishevelled manager could do with getting help for the rushed, solitary waitress, rather than constantly popping corks for tables of loud businessmen.
Socks need to be pulled up all round.

Had a superb lunch here to celebrate a birthday. Whole experience was very good indeed. Wonderful sea food and meat dishes. Great to see where everything had come from. Loads of choice of sauces for the mussels. Potatoes divine - were they Aura?

In the last year I have taken 2 trips to Northumberland and travelled out my way on the 2nd visit just to dine at the Mizen Head again. The food is wonderful local fayre that is transformed into beautiful meals by a clearly talented chef. For those visiting what ever you select from the menu I'm sure it will be delicious but you MUST have the marmalade pudding for dessert. This is that best dessert I've ever eaten rich and dark and yet as light as a feather and the Seabuckthorn ice cream that accomapanies it is the perfect balance. The staff are helpful and relaxed and really make the Mizen Head a dining experience not to be missed.

We had occasion to take two Australian visitors to this Hotel Restaurant. We experienced excellent service, superb food, from a fantastic menu with a very comprehensive wine list.
Great value for money.
We shall certainly return to this beautiful part of Northumberland in the future hopefully with some sunny weather!

We stayed on easter Saturday and had a beautiful room with a large comfy bed overlooking the countyside. The evening meal and breakfast was gorgeous. We would highly recommend staying here and eating here. Friendly staff and realxed atmosphere.Bamburgh is a very beautiful place.
