Booked into another hotel in Bamburgh but didn't like it at all. Found this one and loved it. Our room had 2 windows, both with country views as the hotel is at the edge of the village but only a couple of minutes to the centre. A restaurant table was available for guests (the restaurant was full on the 4 nights we were there) and the food was excellent. The best we tasted in Northumberland. The staff were very friendly and the manager especially helpful

My husband and I love Bamburgh and had a most relaxing four nights at The Mizen. We have stayed there twice before. Previous visits have been good but this was even better. I havae ticked Terrible on 'pool and fitness centre' There was neither but the sea and beack were no distance so there was not problem!

The menu was varied and there was plenty of choice of home cooked and well presented food with friendly and efficient service Fresh fish is a speciality and we tasted varieties we had not met before. The Chef is to be commended.

We look forward to our next vist and would thoroughly recommend The Mizen to anyone wanting a relaxing and quiet holiday in this lovely part of Northumberland.

Room Tip: We overlooked the front of the hotel and could see Seahouses beyond fields. Sea glimpse to the side...

I have reviewed this before and marked it 5/5.
If it were possible i would give it six.
I now eat here regularly despite a 55 mile round trip. The bargain of the century is having lunch here, very seldom do you find more than a dozen people in at lunchtime, why when it is always booked out in the evening !!
The lunch menu has most of the dinner menu on it at a fraction of the cost- I highly reccomend " The Taste Of The Sea" platter - Smoked salmon, prawns, langoustines, crab claw, bouqerones, salmon mousse, pickled herring, salad etc etc - FANTASTIC
We have tried a lot of the dishes and have yet to find fault with anything, the staff are all smiley friendly people which goes some way to making this one of the best places to eat in the Northumberland.
Mizen Head I salute you.

After stumbling across the Mizen and having a truly memorable meal we booked in for a three-night stay and could not have made a better decision. Wonderfully comfortable room, could not have asked for much better value, and Alex (the manager) and his young and enthusiastic staff could not have been more helpful. But the real draw is the food. Simply delicious and cooked to perfection by a chef who is at the absolute top of his game. Be it fish (the crevettes, lobster and sole were out of this world) or the prime cuts of beef the five dinners we had were all gastronomic delights. It might be a six-hour drive away but we will return to what is a truly historic restaurant - our sincere compliments to the chef and Alex.

My partner and I dined here on our last night staying in Bamburgh on a personal recommendation. We weren't disappointed! They have a nice bar area where you can sit with a pre-dinner drink and browse and menu. We both had mussels which were delicious and also very tasty desserts. The only negative was that apparently the waitresses has the evening off (it was a Sunday night) and we did find that the service wasn't quite up to the standard of the food. Still we'd definitely recommend giving this pace a visit.

We were staying in Seahouses and couldn't find anywhere decent to eat until we heard about the Mizen Head Hotel. Had a wonderful seafood meal, mussels, lobster and though full managed a pudding and can strongly recommentd the sticky ginger. All the food was excellent, service charming and friendly. We wanted to share a starter and this was served to us in two seperate bowls and in plentiful quantity. An excellent meal and the owner kindly drove us home afterwards so we were able to enjoy some of his excellent wine. A great find and well worth the visit.

We dined at the Mizen Head on the last night of our holiday - I only wish we'd gone earlier, as we would definitely have dined there again! Excellent food, especially the mussels and fish dishes, great atmosphere, attentive service - an all-round enjoyable evening.
