We have eaten here several times and it has been a great experience everytime. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff who were great with the kids and good food. We are now going to book to stay in the hotel which has good reviews too, and we can bring the dog!

A truly excellent hotel with a perfect view of the castle. Our room was an absolute delight with a palatial bathroom, living area and a four poster bed that you just sunk into. Perfectly located for the beach and castle. The food was good in the spacious restaurant. A definite revisit

Room Tip: Ask for room 42 or others facing the castle.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your recent stay, personally I don't think there are many better views in the country than those seen from our castle view rooms.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the not so distant future.

Lots of good things about the Victoria. The bar with the log fire, the cosy dining area, the light-filled breakfast room. All very pleasant. Relaxed family atmosphere. Dog-friendly. Free upgrade to a four- poster room. Friendly staff. It was a bitterly cold night so we asked for extra blankets. An extra duvet was delivered promptly and cheerfully and was much appreciated. The room was quiet, the bed comfortable with crisp cotton sheets. The shower over the bath worked perfectly. Could have done with a non-slip mat, but didn't notice this in time to ask. Things that could be better - the decor upstairs is a bit tired, especially the carpets. Couldn't find a mirror that was lit well enough lit and close enough for doing make-up - not a big problem but it was a special occasion. The breakfast - impressive full vegetarian breakfast, complete with sausages and asparagus. The melon had a chemical taste (tinned?) and the coffee wasn't great. There's a better coffee machine in the bar. It was a bit disappointing have the buffet cleared away soon after we'd started. Meant we couldn't change our minds about things (the melon for instance). We'd come down half an hour before the end of breakfast time. Was that too late? If there was a rating between 'average' and 'very good' I'd choose that. It's above average but not yet very good. I'm sure they're working on it.

Many thanks for leaving a review on your recent stay with us. Regarding your issuses with breakfast I have spoken with the kitchen team who say the melons aren't tinned so not sure what the chemical tast could have been but I have asked them to check them in future, I have also spoken with our restaurant team and asked them not clear away the bufett until the end of breakfast.
I hope these issues are now rectified and we would love to welcome you back the Victoria.

We have just returned from a weekend staying at the Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh. On arrival we were instantly made at home, with a very friendly welcome for both us and the dog. We had also been given an upgrade to one of the superior rooms with a four poster bed. This was very pleasing as I had wrongly thought that there would be rooms set aside for people travelling with dogs and thought the worst. The room (number 14) was a lovely size with a view of the sea in the distance. One down side though, if you wanted to watch TV in bed, one of the bed posts obstructs the view of the TV. The bed was very comfortable and clean. I had read somewhere that the rooms are cold, the weather this weekend was bitter and the heating struggled to cope, however, the hotel had very thoughtfully provided a fan heater. The shower did take a while for the hot water to come through, but was adequate.

The breakfast was lovely with a good choice and I would recommend the Craster Kippers. The food available in the evening was very nice too with offers on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday we had 2 Sirloin Steaks and a bottle of very reasonable Merlot for £25. The only room for improvement was that Squirty Cream from an aerosol has no place on an Irish Coffee. Although we had the dog who obviously was not allowed in the Bistro Restaurant, the service at the bar tables was no less that was received by Dinners in the restaurant.

With the weather being so cold, an added bonus was the roaring fire in the resident's lounge.

The staff in the hotel were very friendly and nothing was too mush trouble, a special mention to Chris in the restaurant, who although seemed very busy, always had time for both us and the dog.

We will be returning to Northumberland in the future and will willingly stay at the Victoria again. With or without a dog, I would recommend it to anyone.

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay with us. It is always a pleasure to read such positive feedback. I am sorry to hear that you were served an Irish Coffee with squirty cream on the top, this has now been rectified and all Liquer Coffees are served with freshly whipped cream.I hope to welcome you both back to The Victoria Hotel very soon.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at The Victoria Hotel, Bamburgh 15th - 18th March 2013. This was a quiet weekend away for our 40th Anniversary.
We could not fault the Hotel. It was well managed, everyone seemed to work as a team and all were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
Our room was spotlessly clean and the food in the Restaurant was excellent. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending it to our family, friends and anyone else visiting the area.

Stayed with friends for a weekend break mid march 2013. Chose superior room which was very comfortable with nice furniture, flat screen tv, dvd player and bright well lit bathroom. Just one problem, cold shower in the morning, (our friends had the next room, and had the same problem) We were told by reception the boiler had tripped, and would be sorted. When we returned late afternoon from our day out, the problem had not been sorted. However Mark the duty manager gave us the key to another room to use the shower, this is how problems should be sorted, i.e. no excuses, deal with it! We were quite happy with the solution. Had dinner on our first night, really tasty, excellent quality and large portions, good service and good wine list. Breakfast on both days was first class, buffet starter, followed by freshly cooked full English breakfast. The smoked haddock was superb! Would recommend the Victoria to anyone, for great value and a very comfortable stay.

Just had an overnight here following a trip to Holy Island. Hadnt bothered reading the reviews on here so no idea what to expect.
Easy to find, easy to park, just across the street from the Grace Darling museum and a few mins walk from the very imposing castle and beach. Bamburgh is lovely, but not a massive choicest eating places to be had so we booked into the hotel restaurant.
The lobby bar area and restaurant look great. We got a complimentary upgrade to a larger room and although the upstairs decor and carpets sorely need attention, our room was wonderful. Massive, spotless, four poster bed, flat screen TV and full bath with TWO showers over it. A static one and a flexible one. Great idea.
We had a great meal in the restaurant, highly recommended but the cheese platter was huge and could easily be shared amongst two. I couldn't finish it even though it was beautiful. Breakfast was fabulous, great choices, kippers, salmon, veggie, regular etc. Great quality food and big portions again!
I'd recommend this place and certainly stay again if I'm in the area. The room rates are very reasonable and it's the only place I've visited where all UK phone calls from your room phone, either to mobile or landline, are FREE! Great bonus even though didnt read this until leaving and had attempted several calls on my mobile with a poor/non existent signal. So now you all know :).
