This is an excellent wedding venue for a small informal ceremony. The setting was lovely, the registrars were both very friendly.Laura and her team were very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble, my elderly mother particularly liked the fact that they knew what she liked to drink. All of our guests commented on how good the food was. It was delicious, hot and on time. The complementary castle view room was the icing on the cake.

We stayed here with 2 other coup[les who both have dogs, being allergic to too much close contact with dogs I wasn't looking forward to the prospect of dog hairs all over and that characteristic smell of dog :( What we got was a pleasant surprise! Yes, there were dogs in the bar but our room showed no sign of a dog ever being in there and the food in the restaurant was fabulous. Not cheap food but an imaginative menu and well presented food - I asked for, and was given, the recipe for the Chicken Terrine so I left happy.
We would stay here again if in the area.

Mant thanks for taking the time to post such kind comments. Although we do allow dogs in the hotel we endeavor to keep our rooms free of any dog hairs. We have passed on your lovely comments regarding our food to our kitchen team. Hope to see you again sometime in the not so distant future.

The Victoria Hotel Bamburgh.
My husband and I stayed here for one night on Saturday 3 November. It’s the first time we have visited Bamburgh and a Group On offer for a half price visit to Bamburgh Castle sealed the deal. We paid extra to have a castle view room and it was worth every penny. We were simply stunned at how pretty the view was (Room 33) and could not fault the size and décor of the room, everything from the lovely bathroom with Jacuzzi bath (be careful how much of the complimentary toiletries you put in before switching on!), to the modern 4 poster type bed. It was a freezing cold day when we arrived but the room was lovely and warm and welcoming. We thorough enjoyed it and would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Definately pay extra for the Castle View Room

Spent half term week in a cottage in Bamburgh, and ate out at the Victoria on 4 evenings with the family and dog. (Plus a couple of trips up for a quiet drink or two...)
Bar staff were helpful and very friendly. Menu selection was good (menu had changed since our previous visits) although the first night we were not aware there were two menus you could order off. Ribeye steak very highly recommended, so to the steak burgers.

Nice house wine as well with some tasty beer selection. Looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: A very dog friendly hotel, good food and atmosphere.

For an independent hotel in the UK this is very good (because many can be grim).

Positives
A warm welcome at reception and staff who were very helpful throughout the stay.
Good value for money
Room was clean (although there was a large black mark on the bedspread) & comfortably furnished.
The bathroom was spacious and also very clean.
Breakfast (included in the rate) was good with hot food cooked to order rather than languishing on a hot-plate. Toast on a rack rather than in a soggy pile.
Comfortable bed & a great night's sleep

Could be better...
(not the hotel's fault) guests who slam doors and speak in loud voices in the corridor
very gloomy corridor to the bedrooms
Teapot in the room rather than making tea in a mug
Radiator in the bathroom did not appear to work & shower pressure low

We ate dinner here in the bistro, but only once as we were put off by some of the staff.

We had to approach two members of staff just to establish if we could get a table! The 1st person ignored our request completely and walked off to see to someone else, and the 2nd person who appeared to be more interested in the formal dining area was cleary put out by us interrupting him he pointed us in the direction of a table which was too small to eat at and stuck in the middle of the main thoroughfare between the bar and the bistro. We found ourselves a better table in a corner without any further help from the staff.

After that things got better, the bar staff who seemed to have to double up and serve at table were very friendly and helpful, the 'fish and chips' were very tasty, but it couldnt make up for poor service earlier.

We wouldnt give this place another try as there are plenty of other places to eat in Bamburgh.

We stayed here for two nights this weekend with our family, totalling 14, including a baby. The hotel coped admirably (we are quite a noisy handful!). The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was good- very comfy beds and peaceful. We had a lovely weekend :)
