We started our four night stay at the Sunningdale in a small unattractive twin room but were moved to a nicer double after a couple of days. The hotel has a sort of minimalistic feel which was okay during the lovely weather but would not have been so cosy on a beak winter’s day. Breakfasts were ample help yourself jobs which could not be faulted and staff and management [or were they the owners] were friendly and helpful. It was our first visit to Bamborough, we loved the village, the beach was gorgeous and the castle and the cricket pitch underneath it very dramatic. We ate in just about all the pubs /restaurants in the village and they are all pretty similar in price and quality [adequate pub food with marked up prices].
