The beach is one of the longest Ive seen in the UK. Width wise as well once the waters have receded the beach is quite big. Nice views of the castle & lighthouse & other islands from the beach. Quite a few sand dunes at the edge of the beach.

I come from near the famous Oregon Coast and found this beach quite similar with sand, sea, sea grasses, picnic areas, trails, and warmer water than I imagined!

The tides here are not as exaggerated as they are in Normandy but the amount of land that gets exposed at low tide is still quite respectable.

Besides the people that like to rummage and look for things in the sand, just walking along this long beach is a pleasure. You see a lot of sea birds here. Just a long walk near the sea allows you to breath the clean unpolluted air and makes new visits something to look forward to.

There are less and less sand dunes around in our world today so this stretch of beach is even more precious.

Access for people with disabilities might prove to be complicated.

A glorious expanse of sand and dunes. I’m disabled, so access is difficult. Our favourite place to enjoy the beach from is to take the road called ‘The Wynding’ from the village centre – the parking near the end of this road is all free. Pass the two height restricted car parks, and park in either the layby that takes about 3 cars or go on to the layby that takes up to 10 cars, just before the golf course entrance and the squat, square towered white lighthouse. In both these laybys you can sit in the car, or go out on to one of the benches, to enjoy the views of the beach, the castle and the Farne Islands, without the laborious and tiring business of climbing through the dunes and on to the beach.
