“Holy Island trip”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

Used this hotel for short 3 day break , visiting Holy Island (1hrs drive away) and Northumberland. From the word go staff were genuinely very pleasant, friendly, and helpful, and immediately change room to ground floor to accomodate my wifes problem with steps. The breakfasts, booked in advance online and the evening meals booked during stay, could not be faulted for choice, amount, or taste and the theme nights ..I liked Mexican best, were very good value for money . Room was comfortable clean and temperature easily adjusted. slight traffic noise through double glazed window as room reallocated was at rear of hotel but we did ask for ground floor. Only problem was the balletic elephant in the room above us who for half an hour each night seemed to be practising swan lake with the hippos from Fantasia ! However by the time we needed sleep this had ceased (still wondering what they were actually doing) Would visit this hotel again definitely .Oh, and for anyone with young children they also provide a brilliant play area adjacent to the bar area...but pretty well soundproofed

Great location if you are visiting the area. Very helpful and friendly staff both in the reception and in the restaurant areas. Room was extremely clean, tidy and spacious with a very comfortable bed, resulting in a great nights sleep. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice available to suit all tastes and dietary needs. Restaurant menu very good and well priced with a chefs daily changing special making a great option if you are staying more than one night. Very children friendly hotel with play areas both inside and outside with plenty of outside seating for the good weather periods.

We go quite regularly with the grandchildren, who love to play in the soft play, after eating their delicious tea. Haven't stayed over, as we live too close, but lovely to go for meals. Well recommended.

Stayed here with family for a birthday celebration nearby. All staff greeted us with a smile and a cheery greeting, even the night reception guy when we returned at 1.45am! Spotlessly clean rooms, very comfy beds and excellent breakfast to cure hangovers the next morning. Tremendous value for money.

Arrived early at 12pm. Reception staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to find out if room was ready. Our allocated room wasn't ready but we were given a lovely room in the new part of the premier inn in a quiet area overlooking the lake. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. One member of staff even gave our daughter a birthday card and teddy on her special day which was very thoughtful. Great location as a base for exploring Northumberland. Holy island was approx 1hr drive away and we used the coastal road which was very scenic and lots of places to visit along the way. The Jolly Fisherman pub in Craster is a great stop off. The thing that let down the Premier Inn for us was the very poor service at the adjoining Brewers Fayre pub/ restaurant. We had no problems at breakfast but evening meal service and food quality was poor. We waited 50 minutes for a mixed grill which was cold when served. We ended up getting a refund and left the food. Would definitely stay at Premier Inn again and do breakfast at Brewers Fayre but not evening meals. The soft play area in the pub is great for young kids to keep them occupied and is open all the time for play.
