We have stayed in many Premier Inns and have come to expect a similar high standard in the rooms and restaurants. On this occasion, we were on our way to spend a week in Wooler - no Premier Inns this far north, after spending a pleasant afternoon with friends in Hutton Henry on the way up. We had planned to see the Ashington Colliery Museum the next day but hadn't realised that it was so close to this Premier Inn. The site had plenty of parking, and was in a fantastic setting by the lake. Hot and bothered by the heat of a day travelling in the car, we were pleased to relax in the comfort of a Premier Inn room and switched the fan on to relax - having already eaten before arrival. We had a pleasant night although at some point there was a problem with the electricity but their generator was fixed before most people were up and about so there was no problem. Staff as usual couldn't be faulted as they were cheerful, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was well cooked and it was no bother for them to provide me with mushrooms that were not cooked in butter as theirs generally are, as I am dairy intolerant. After breakfast, we unfortunately had to leave this idyllic spot as we were due further north for our stay for the week and had ear-marked other places to visit. However, we couldn't resist spending some time walking by the lake, photographing the swans and wildlife and generally soaking up the atmosphere. A wedding party was arriving, what a venue and what a day they had!!
We literally had to tear ourselves away from this spot and vowed to return again another time to spend more nights here.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the lake is nice

This must be one of the best locations for a 'budget' hotel anywhere in the UK. The hotel is on the edge of a country park with a large lake in front of the property. The accommodation is fairly 'typical' for Premier Inn so is clean, well equipped and of a reasonable standard. Optional meals are served in the integral pub/restaurant with a separate direct access from the hotel reception area. Breakfasts were very good with plenty of variety in the buffet area and hot meals cooked to order. Staff were polite and attentive. We would certainly opt to stay here again.

Room Tip: Request a first floor room overlooking the lake.

Set on the outskirts of a mining village, the setting for the Premier Inn is by a a big expanse of water with swans and ducks - very relaxing and pleasant. Ample parking space had a good number of disabled parking. As a place to escape this was just perfect. Happy, helpful staff and the most wonderful welcoming smile I have ever seen added to the enjoyment. A great place to use as a base to explore the surrounding area.

We stayed here having booked three rooms for our party - I was very pleased with the location which sits by a lake, very nice for a budget hotel. As the weather was beautiful, we opted to take a walk partly round the lake, not something you can generally do at a Premier Inn.

I didn't find any of us had any issues with the evening meals. Perhaps a bit longer than expected but nothing to complain about. The complex unfortunately suffered a power cut on our second morning which did delay breakfast. We did feel that we were perhaps forgotten, as our hot breakfasts took over 30 minutes to arrive.

The breakfasts were excellent value given they are unlimited and you can also help yourself to cereal etc too.

The rooms were clean and tidy, our room was right next to the stairs which always presents its own issues but not enough to put us off. A lakeside room would have been nice but such is life.

The staff were very friendly and helpful (both in the restaurant and hotel) and made us feel welcome.

I'd definitely look at staying here again if we are in the area.

This premier inn has a great location by a lake unusual for the chain. As usual comfortable clean room with good facilities.

Used as a stopover en route further north so just what we needed to break the journey up.
