Some years ago we visited the castle in daytime and could see that the magnificent new tree house would have a very special restaurant so booked a table. Everything about the restaurant was new, exciting and interesting - even the cutlery - but more obvious was the massive, chunky wood furniture and central fireplace. Now, several years later, we took friends - arriving in the dark to the sight of a fairytale structure covered almost entirely in fairy lights. Inside the restaurant is just as enchanting and has matured beautifully. The menu on this visit was not ambitious but the food was capably cooked and served with panache by friendly staff. There is nothing to be frightened of here and the bill is more than reasonable. A very, very special place to eat.
