Description: The Treehouse is one of the most magical and unique restaurants to be found anywhere in the world. It’s high up in the treetops, with a roaring log fire in the centre of the room and trees growing through the floor. Most importantly, the locally-inspired food is delicious. Always featuring local fish and seafood, meats from Northumberland’s farmlands and other regional specialities, the Treehouse Restaurant menus highlight local quality, taste and change throughout the seasons. There’s a great wine list, a good range of beers and regular live music. For a family dining experience that you’ll all enjoy, a great night out with friends or a romantic dinner for two, there’s nowhere quite like it. We always recommend booking ahead for lunch or dinner.

Some years ago we visited the castle in daytime and could see that the magnificent new tree house would have a very special restaurant so booked a table. Everything about the restaurant was new, exciting and interesting - even the cutlery - but more obvious was the massive, chunky wood furniture and central fireplace. Now, several years later, we took friends - arriving in the dark to the sight of a fairytale structure covered almost entirely in fairy lights. Inside the restaurant is just as enchanting and has matured beautifully. The menu on this visit was not ambitious but the food was capably cooked and served with panache by friendly staff. There is nothing to be frightened of here and the bill is more than reasonable. A very, very special place to eat.

This restaurant was recommended to us and we were not disappointed.

The service was impeccable and the food was beautifully cooked. The cocktails were great too!

We would definitely return.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday in the evening. We were both in awe of the surroundings immediately. Inside was just as nice and I had pre-arranged for the table to be decorated which had been done beautifully. This was an extra £3.50. We had a starter, main, dessert and two alcoholic drinks each which totalled £87. It was worth every penny. Must recommend the venison which was cooked to perfection. The waiter we had was brilliant and never kept us waiting for anything. Will definately be going back and certainly recommending this place to anyone who will listen.

The USP of this place is the treehouse. It's stunning and well worth a visit. You do feel transported into a children's movie, its great. If you are a foodie don't expect too much. For the cost of a set meal you will get mediocre. Service was great some local youngsters who were very friendly and professional well done!

I never give 5 stars as there's always room for improvement.
This place is lovely. So atmospheric. Lit by fairy lights and candles. Warm and cozy.
Really good food. Really good service. A little pricey but we don't mind paying a bit extra for something special.
Only moan is, we had to go to find a waitress to ask for our bill. Mild annoyance after being so well looked after all night.
Highly recommended.
Oh, use the disabled loo if you don't fancy a very long climb up the spiral stairs to the toilets.
