Description: The Treehouse is one of the most magical and unique restaurants to be found anywhere in the world. It’s high up in the treetops, with a roaring log fire in the centre of the room and trees growing through the floor. Most importantly, the locally-inspired food is delicious. Always featuring local fish and seafood, meats from Northumberland’s farmlands and other regional specialities, the Treehouse Restaurant menus highlight local quality, taste and change throughout the seasons. There’s a great wine list, a good range of beers and regular live music. For a family dining experience that you’ll all enjoy, a great night out with friends or a romantic dinner for two, there’s nowhere quite like it. We always recommend booking ahead for lunch or dinner.

Four of us went here to celebrate a shared anniversary, booking well ahead since it was a Saturday (which was a wise move).

The restaurant is accessed via a long raised walkway which, despite the place being literally in the treetops, isn't very steep at all. The whole walkway is dressed in fairylights so that the excitement mounts even before the restaurant is reached.

Once inside one is immediately impressed with a scene from something like Lord of the Rings: Heavy wooden tables and chairs with huge backs, more fairylights, a central blazing firepit (safely behind grilles) - in fact the biggest treehouse in the world.

Service is attentive and first class, and the menu will have something for all tastes, including game.

Our experience could be summed up in one word - Wow! It's hard to think how it could have been better.

Ignore the negative reviews. Some people just don't know a good thing when they find it. We travel to visit The Treehouse for an evening meal each year and this was as good as each previous occasion. It is still our most favourite place to eat. I was worried by the recent poor reviews, but please pay them no heed.
This year they seem to have added more fairy lights to the exterior surroundings which make it even more magical. We were glad to see the al la carte menu was available once again and the choices were diverse and interesting. The staff were pleasant, efficient and friendly. In fact we had a nice conversation with one girl about the upcoming Halloween celebrations they are planning. I wish I was there for that as she made them sound fantastic.
We were not rushed, nor were we kept waiting at any point. The food was absolutely delicious and up to the standard we're used to from The Treehouse. A previous reviewer stated the restaurant is looking tired - I cannot disagree more. It is still like a fairy-tale inside and nothing looked aged or tired at all to me. In fact the surroundings are 50% of the experience when you eat here.
All in all we had another incredible night here and I wouldn't change a thing. We will definitely be returning again next year. I’d recommend visiting at night - that's when this place is at its most magical. Oh, and don’t forget going to play on the rope bridges in the dark - if you dare!

I had booked here for my Husbands 'special' birthday. The setting is magical, a real wow factor for both the interior & exterior. This was perfect for a low key special evening. The food was great & the staff were excellent & very attentive. This was a fantastic start to our stay in Northumberland, worth coming back the next day to view in the daylight.

The title says it all. We booked the Treehouse for the end of September for the final evening of our holiday. Fairy lights lit the way to the restaurant, making the whole experience different. The food was very tasty and the service excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The interior is rustic and, again, different from anything else we have experienced anywhere. All in all a good evening out in a magical place and a must if you are visiting Alnwick.
