“mmm - earl grey tea!!”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

and you know what - it was delicuious!
Nothign like the awfulness of a twinning tea bag and a relaly refreshing and unique flavour. - try it!
Beautiful tea room in grand setting the gardens/arboretum is charming.
The house needs a lot of TLC and if only I had the milliosn it needs to bring it back to life.
we had a (nice) long walk to here but well worth the visit.

“Beautiful gardens and something of a backwater.”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

The gardens and arboretum are well worth a visit and, as it is a little off the beaten track, the place is probably much quieter that the nearby Alnwick Gardens. It is a lovely spot in which to while away a couple of hours and a visit to the Earl Grey Tearooms is a must! Don't rely too much on your sat nav - the postcode quoted on the website gets you to the estate office not the visitor entrance (although the latter is no that far away)

“Beautiful gardens, superb lunches and afternoon teas!”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We have enjoyed visits to Howick Hall for a few years now and, although we visit the area for only about 3 weeks in a year, buy a season ticket because we enjoy it so much. Despite the number of visits, I'm sure that we have not seen everything in the gardens and arboretum. The gardeners are clearly interested in the environment, developing wild flower meadows and planting bee and butterfly-friendly plants. We spent hours watching and photographing the bumblebees on the catmint and alliums in front of the hall! The choice and quality of food and varieties of tea and coffee in the tea room are excellent although perhaps a little pricey.

“Gardens, Cream Teas and Earl Grey Tea”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

As they admit the house is relatively unimpressive as the past owners (Earl Grey etc) through the ages have been more interested in gardening than house decoration. A summer walk around the gardens was impressive (many photos taken) though time prevented us from fully appreciating the majesty of the trees. The cream teas were very good, accompanied of course by Earl Grey tea, some of which we took back to Vietnam with us.

“Howick gardens and arboretum”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

This place is very good and worth a few long hours walk to soak up the brilliant tree planting.
The downside is that many trees appear too close and as such cannot be seen in all their splendour.
The gardens near the house are somewhat tired and show a lack of upkeep. Such a shame.
