Have visited many castles and this one was very impressive. It wasn’t at all like I expected it to be from the exterior, much more opulent. Worth doing the historic guided tour as this was very informative. However I didn’t agree with having to pay separately for the gardens and also £3.50 for the parking.

One of the best living castles which caters for young children who want to dress up and play knights or Harry Potter, or adults who are interested in history. Beautiful state rooms with many works of art by famous painters - would give many art galleries a run for their money. Guides very friendly and we'll informed. Excellent afternoon out and tickets can be re-used for a return trip. Family photos of current Percy family give a more intimate atmosphere than other castles.

My wife and I took in the castle and gardens on a Sunday afternoon trip. It was a wee tad too dear at £50 for two adult tickets. The state rooms are well worth a visit but felt a bit strange as they are family used rooms and there were many photographs and personal items around. The gardens are beautiful and lovely to walk in.

We had a great day out. Lots for us to do with a young family. Our 2yr old loved all of the dressing up and making clay tiles. We ate in the cafe which was very tasty, and they were really accommodating with making a cheese sandwich for our little boy! We unlocked our ticket to be an annual pass and spent some time in the castle on a second day that week, and again thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Went to Alnwick Castle on 10th October 2013. We had a brilliant day out. Disappointedly the lost cellars were closed due to the heavy rain but this didn't dampen our spirits and we still had a brilliant day regardless. Being a complete Harry Potter geek myself, I was beyond giddy while on the Battleaxe to Broomstick Tour and credit to the girl who gave the tour - I think her name was Rosie - she was excellent.

Would definitely recommend Alnwick Castle. It has something for all ages
