The cookery classes held on a Friday morning are a wonderful experience. Although I have cooked all my life there is always something new to learn in enjoyable company. Well worth the money and I would recommend them highly. Adam, the chef is a real character.

I have been to Alnwick Gardens several times before and always loved it, but going in November you don't expect to see loads of flowers obviously, but to charge over £13 per person (the same as in summer) I felt was rather expensive. I know we visited in the lull before Christmas but I feel a cheaper admission price would be suitable, it did feel rather a rip off as we only stayed just over an hour.

This garden is worth visiting in any season of the year, but is at its best in the spring and summer when the rose garden is at its best. However, autumn and winter visits bring their own charm and attractions, notably the colours of trees in autumn. The large and impressive water feature is worth viewing at any time. There is of course more to see in the summer - on our recent visit in November the famous 'Poison Garden' was closed to visitors and the winter opening hours are short. Entrance is not cheap (indeed we consider it very expensive for an autumn/winter visit). The cafe is also overpriced and has a limited menu. The gift shop attached to the garden has interesting gift items and cards and is worth a visit.

A beautifully made fountain surrounded by luscious greens and intricately sculpted plants and trees will greet you as you enter the garden. It's a playground for the whole family. You can even have picnics here I think. There was an alice in wonderland show when we went there. There's also this amazing array of arched trees where you can take a nice photo.

We also had a tour of the poison garden where actual poisonous plants are being shown and explained to visitors. The tour guide was really funny.

You will see a miniature of Hagrid's hut beside the entrance. Dont forget to take a photo with it!
