Owner description: The Alnwick Garden is one of the world’s most extraordinary contemporary gardens. From poisonous plants and treetop walkways to glorious roses and towering delphiniums, the Duchess of Northumberland’s vision for a forgotten plot is now a truly 21st century experience full of imagination and fun, all brought to life with water.

“Commercially minded....”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Garden is lovely though obviously much recent work means does not feel very 'traditional'.
No opportunity lost to relieve you of your cash with many invitations to eat and drink. Didn't have time for the castle interior but wonderful views of it from the grounds as you walk from the Garden. Parking is some distance from everything, across a main road: AND they charge £3.50 on top of the high prices for Garden and Castle! Much better to park in one of the Greenwell Road council car parks where it is max £2 to park all day, and a much shorter walk.

“Interesting and will never garden without wearing gloves again!”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Make sure you do the tour of the poison garden but, be warned, you'll always wear gloves afterwards. Do not eat here. The scones were like sawdust and the pasta at lunch time almost inedible. Such a shame as the setting is wonderful.

“Fantastic food & service in afternoon tea tent 10/10 for food!”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

I brought my two daughters to the alnwick gardens and then decided to visit the afternoon tea tent. Would definitely recommend it as we all loved it, staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was fresh and filling and the unlimited tea & coffee topped our delightful day off.

“A great day out for all the family”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

We have had a wonderful day and enjoyed fabulous foody treats including a delicious afternoon tea. All the food offerings have the wow factor and are a huge improvement since my last visit a couple of years ago. Everyone going should make time for an afternoon tea during their visit
