Owner description: The Alnwick Garden is one of the world’s most extraordinary contemporary gardens. From poisonous plants and treetop walkways to glorious roses and towering delphiniums, the Duchess of Northumberland’s vision for a forgotten plot is now a truly 21st century experience full of imagination and fun, all brought to life with water.

We really enjoyed the gardens especially the various water features. It was just as we'll for the price. It was wonderful to see a garden which had had some money spent on it. I can see how it would be a good draw for an area. We weren't expecting it to open at 10 so arrived at 9 and hung around while staff arrived. At 4.15 we went to the cafe, only to see staff packing up. They assured us they were open after all but it was rather off putting. I read that someone else had that experience at the Treehouse Restaurant also on the site. We went for a evening meal there only to find that our after meal drinks were not possible as they had closed The Potting Shed at only 9.30. It doesn't feel as if they are making the most of their business opportunities.

The Poison Garden was cool, likewise the bamboo maze ... and I bet the walled garden is splendid in season. We were there too early for it to be in full bloom (April 2013)

The Alnwick garden is one of Northumbria's many gems. Whether it's a relaxing picnic near the garden's fountains, a stroll around the ornamental gardens, a soak in the labyrinth or an adventure at the nearby castle, this attraction caters for the whole family. Tickets however are a little pricey it must be said. It's a real shame that they've decided to cancel the ticket unlocking 'scheme' that allowed day ticket holders 12 months free access to the gardens. Would still visit again though.

The gardens are wonderful but very overpriced at £13.75 per adult. What makes matters worse is you are charged a further £3.50 for the privilege of parking. Total rip off & then there are other opportunities in the gardens for donations ie in the poison garden. Glad I visited to see the gardens for myself but I wont return

A must see when visiting Alnwick. The fountains provide a spectacular centrepiece & the range of flowers is impressive. Worthy surroundings for the magnificent castle. Congratulations to the Duchess who had the imagination and determination to see the project through.
