A lovely hotel located in the heart of Alnwick. Clean thoroughout all areas. Room was a double with comfortable bed, good lighting ,flat screen television, good supply of drinks /biscuits on tea tray.Iron and board in the wardrobe. Bathroom had good supply of toileteries, towels(changed every day) shower a little slow in getting going, but good when in full flow.Room was warm at all times but the corridor and dining room were cold. There was large fireplaces in dining room and reception but they weren't lit. Food good, hot plates, service good.Drinks very dear (£1.55 for glass of lemonade).Staff very pleasent and helpful.

We were happy with our room very clean ample tea/coffee our only problem was how cold our room was! The small heater couldn't cope the bathroom heater didn't work at all so the towels were still wet next morning. Reception did quickly get us a small portable heater which did help. Must comment on how friendly everyone was from duty manager down a really good team

I stayed here recently for four nights. The staff were very welcoming to our coach party and greeted us with tea and biscuits, and we were quickly checked in. On arriving in our room number 114 we found it very nice with lovely comfy beds, nice clean bedding and towels, complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdrier, iron, ironing board, wine glasses, ice bucket and spare duvets in the wardrobe should we need them, fortunately we didnt because the one on the bed was more than adequate, as the room ws lovely and warm. The Olympic dining room is beautiful with wood panelling taken from the titanics sister ship. The tables were laid beautifully with white linen cloth and napkins. The meals were excellent. Breakfast was juice, several choices of cereal, then a self service full english buffet with toast, tea or coffee. Evening meal was excellent too with at least 3 choices of starter, main and dessert followed by tea, coffee and mints. The staff were very friendly, courteous and efficient. The only downfall was that some of the corridors were quite chilly because the windows are only single glazed, but this didnt spoil our visit at all. I would stay here again.

Our stay at the white swan was to celebrate our anniversary and wow did the staff make sure we celebrated...we were upgraded to a suite without asking and had basket of fruit and a beautiful card in our room. The staff were quite lovely and accommodated everything. The swan is a marvellous example of an older English hotel with the stunning dining room from the Olympic full of Edwardian elegance and the service was full of Edwardian grace and values too. The autumn break offer was superb value and we felt thoroughly spoilt. The decor is a little tired but beautifully clean. I managed to achieve a lifelong ambition of dressing in original Edwardian clothing to eat in the dining room which was glorious ..(but the fairy lights around the pillars need to go !) if you stay here embrace the elegance and service of a bygone age and revel in good old fashion service.

Enjoyed three nights at the White Swan. Romms and furnished to a good standard, clean and well maintained. The staff were diligent and very pleasant. Meals served in the Olympic Dining room (wood panels lined the walls were from the Titanics sister ship) were excellent and efficiently served. Within a few minutes walk of Alnwick Castle and the fantastic gardens adjoining. If you are in the area stay there. Northumberlands best!
