Lovely location and Alnwick itself is fabulous.

The location of the hotel is great as there is few restaurants and shops on the doorstep and a lovely little market just around the corner, the hotel has complimentary car parking which is a bonus.

We booked on same day arrival and their was only 1 room remaining, which I don't think was the best. The room was OK but on the small side and not a good view...which I know isn't everything.

Never saw much of the hotel but the entrance area did look lovely and the reception staff were friendly. Never made it in time for breakfast so cant comment on the food.

If I was in Alnwick again I would give this hotel another go.

First visit to Alnwick and we stayed here on the strength of the historical fit out. Service on arrival was excellent and remained the case. Shared the hotel with a large group so were worried that we'd be forgotten but should not have feared. Ate two breakfasts and one pudding. Breakfast was unremarkable but this was more than made up for by the surroundings and the waiter Gary who, whilst buzzing around, does the hotel justice. Rooms functional with the only downsides being an unclean loo seat and no digital tv. Overall we found the hotel a great base to explore but due to cost probably won't stay again.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for expressing your thoughts following your recent stay with us at The White Swan Hotel. I will be sure to pass on your kind comments to Gary directly who will be delighted to learn that you enjoyed your time with us. We are in the process of purchasing new digital televisions on a monthly phased basis and I will follow up directly with our head housekeeper your observations regarding the toilet seat. We are sorry to learn that you perhaps might not return however, our rates during autumn; winter and spring are very competitive with our summer months being the only period where demand in the area is exceptionally strong. We do however have a great package called Sleepy Sunday’s during August!

Kind Regards,

The hotel seemed to lack any kind of heart or soul. The bistro wasn't busy and so I could see no reason for the door to the service area to be kept open - closing it would have meant that guests could have eaten in peace rather than listen to the constant clatter of crockery and cutlery being washed and dried.
I wasn't offered cooked breakfast - perhaps my reservation via a discount booking site didn't entitle me to cooked breakfast. If this is the case the confirmation of reservation should say "continental breakfast", rather than the somewhat misleading "breakfast"
It seemed that a previous guest had trimmed his moustache or nostrils over the wash-hand basin judging by the collection of short bristles left behind.

We enjoyed our stay here, although the room was rather small it was well appointed with a comfortable bed, but only a standard double size as there was not enough room for a larger one. The breakfast room is very grand with lovely wood panneling from the sister ship of the Titanic. The breakfast was fine and service was friendly, although they got our order wrong. Parking at the hotel is a bit hit and miss as it is not a huge carpark but if there is not a space available you can use the carpark just behind the hotel for a fee. Alnwick is a very good base to visit the Northumberland coast.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your recent review of The White Swan Hotel, Alnwick. We are delighted that you took the time to express your opinions regarding your time with us here on Trip Advisor. You strong ratings relating to customer service, cleanliness and sleep quality will definitely be received very well by the team at the hotel.

We are sorry to learn of the challenges which you have highlighted relating to our car parking. We do highlight on our website the limitations regarding the size of our car park and my management team regularly assist guests in circumventing these challenges. Our excellent location, indeed as you have detailed, sites the hotel right in the town centre; and like most small market towns parking can be difficult as a consequence.

We do hope that you will return to us and enjoy again the magnificent Olympic Suite and the numerous attractions which are on our doorstep in Northumberland.

Kind Regards,
