“Busy cafe!!”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

First time we have been in this cafe although we have lived in Alnwick for a few months now. It was recommended to us so we thought we'd go for our Sunday morning fry up. The staff were very friendly, even if they were under pressure as every table was full and there was a queue of ppl waiting for tables. Our breakfast did take a while to arrive but we had been told that they are cooked to order so we expected a wait. Filling and tasty! We took home some of the scones and must say they were the best we've tasted in a long time. All in all we enjoyed ourselves and if we get the chance will be back next week.

“Quirky Cafe”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

All good and had laugh with staff. Recommended by B&B we were staying in and we weren't disappointed. Cost just under a tenner for substantial luch. Do you get that in London?? Would go back again if I'm in area.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

This was my first time in Alnwick and there were 6 adults who decided to have breakfast. We were recommended Bailey's cafe by another cafe that did not serve breakfast.
Firstly the doors were wide open and it was not a warm day so we sat at the back. There were tables with 6 chairs that would not seat 6 adults so we waited for a table to become free to join them together, this not a problem.
5 of us had the Bailey's breakfast with tea or coffee. The menu did not state what was in the breakfast. The sausage was cheap and tasteless, the beans and toast were cold and the bacon very fatty.
Some people were eating cakes and they looked really tasty but I can safely say the breakfast was not and the next time I am in Alnwick I will try other establishments.

“Disappointing breakfast”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

Although we are very regular visitors to Alnwick we had never visited Bailey's before, so we thought that we would give the breakfast a try this morning. One reason we haven't been previously is that they steadfastly refuse to display their opening times in the window, which we find very frustrating as we like to plan our meals out.

Our initial greeting was welcoming enough and, after ordering, we sat down and our coffees arrived promptly. My husband's Americano was fine, my filter coffee was just about acceptable and after a 15-20 minute wait (far too long) our English breakfasts arrived. How disappointed we were! Cheap ingredients, poorly prepared - the bacon looked and tasted like it had been cooked 3 times (maybe that's why it took so long to arrive!) and the sausage was awful. As we left, all 4 of the serving staff were standing around the counter with their backs to us, so no-one had the courtesy to acknowledge our leaving, let alone ask us how our meal was. We will not return in a hurry as there are many eating establishments in Alnwick more deserving of our business.

“Excellent food ! Northumberland is five stars!!”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

We were in Northumberland for the first time and what a lovely part of the country it is. We were lucky enough to see some sunshine and the coast and beaches were second to none. We enjoyed looking round the castles and learning the history.

We came upon Bailey's cafe after a short visit to Alnwick market and we throughly enjoyed our afternoon teas. Very well priced and very filling. The owner suggested we have takeaway bags as we couldn't finish it all! The children had the well priced Kids boxes (then played with the toys whilst we finished out meal)and our friends had the soup and sandwich deal. They asked for the recipe ...... always a good sign!

We got talking to a local couple who apparently use the cafe five days a week so another good sign!! If we are ever fortunate to holiday in Northumberland again we will be back. Many thanks.
