Breakfast sorted my good lady and I right out for the day, it was brilliant and where did you get them sausages Linda (yum yum). Booked a BIG family room but was only billed for a double this was very fair I thought as the wee one stayed with granny. Clean and the bed was very comforable.

We came unexpected looking for a place to stay in Alnwick. Received a warm welcome although Mr. Temple was on his way out. The place was exceptionally clean and tidy. Our room had a nice view at the countryside and the beautiful garden. Reighamsyde located on the outskirts of Almwick is close enough to the town to explore it, yet far enough away from the centre to have it nice and quiet. If interested, the Temples offer friendly insider advice for the places to go. Nice spacious en suite room including TV etc., tasty breakfast, pefect service and big lounge to stay in. Whenever we go back to Alnwick this is our place to stay.

Stayed at Reighamsyde once again returning south. Once again another comfortable night, followed by one of Linda’s now famous breakfasts.
Kevin seemed a bit troubled this visit, he couldn’t understand the attitude of some guests who had booked two rooms earlier in the week for three adults and one child. Then posted a poor review on this site. Two hours prior to arrival at 10.30pm he had a phone call to check the booking, except they were now claiming they had booked three adults and three children. Kevin showed us the original booking form emailed to him from the party; sure enough it was for three adults and one child.
All other rooms occupied, Linda & Kevin went to work setting up the two rooms the party had already booked, to accommodate the extra two children, which included erecting a cot for a baby.
We said to Linda & Kevin to pay no heed, Trip Adviser users were no idiots, we would read all the other reviews and draw our own conclusions. Which in their case they had nothing to worry about.
Keep up the good work you two, hope to see you again in a couple of weeks and make sure you have plenty of those Alnwick sausages!!!

We had a lovely stay. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean with a great view of the countryside. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Our hosts Kevin and Linda were very warm and welcoming. Would stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Made to feel unwelcome during our stay and asked not to write a review as they didn’t want it to affect their rating on trip advisor!

We arrived late on Monday evening and had booked 2 rooms for 3 adults and 3 children for 3 nights. Kevin had got our booking wrong and said he was only expecting one child. This could not be correct as he had set up a bed in one room for one child and a cot in another room, so by his own preparations he was expecting at least two children! After a long day we wanted to get the kids to bed and he asked if we could keep them as quiet as possible and come down for breakfast after 8.30am so as not to disturb their other guests. He said his wife was very angry and although he accepted that the problem with the booking was his fault but then spent the next 3 days bringing up the mix up, informing us that his wife had simmered down as if it were our fault and generally making us feel uncomfortable.

In the twin room the TV did not work and could not get the Wi-Fi. The other room had a working TV and intermittent Wi-Fi but the bed was soft and lumpy and the furniture and decoration was dated.

The breakfast was ok but not the best. There was no high chair for our youngest so had to sit with her on my lap for breakfast for all 3 mornings. We think as they did not seem to welcome children and seemed concerned about upsetting their others guests then they should not accept bookings from families.

On our last morning he asked if we had enjoyed our stay, we gave an unenthusiastic but polite response and he asked that we not bother to give a review on trip advisor as he did not want to affect his 4 star rating. We think this was an outrageous suggestion as it means that people looking at trip advisor will not have a balanced view of the accommodation. Other people may have enjoyed their stay but we did not.

We'd like to give a balanced review so good points were: Christine, the lady who took our breakfast order and cleaned the bedrooms was absolutely lovely; the garden was gorgeous; the bathroom in the twin room was very nice but there was not a wall attachment for the shower; there was a large guest sitting room where wi-fi did work (however we never felt comfortable enough to use it); there was a nice pub nearby with the most hilarious landlord who gave the kids free ice-creams and was very welcoming.

I would like to respond to the negative comments received regarding the above booking
The overbooking was on the part of the bookers and not myself (as can be clearly seen on the booking form,it states 3 adults and 1 child)
2 hrs before arrival,we were informed of 2 extra children,so we did our best to accommodate them as it was 10.30at night
The following day I suggested they might like to look for alternative accomodation if they felt cramped, but they chose to stay for the 3 nights and we did not charge for the extra 2 children.
I belive my refusal for them to warm food up and eat it in the bedrooms have a lot to do with there review.
We are proud of our ranking on Trip Advisor. Our reviews speak for themselves:
fun; fabulouse;great;superb food; a Northumrian jewel;exelant; lovely;great fantastic;one of the best; delightful; will be back.... the list goes on The list goes on...
All I can say is " You can,t please all of the people all of the time.
On a final note, after asking if they had enjoyed there stay, and seeing there reactions,
I said " I assume you wont be leaving a comment on Trip Advisor then"
I see they have got this wrong (along with our rating which is 5 not 4) .

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was comfy and the en-suite looked brand new! The only thing that we didn't like was that there was no shower. The bath had a hand held shower, but we had to be very careful not to flood the whole bathroom. But otherwise it was great!

The breakfast was delicious and Kevin, our host, was extremely entertaining. We met some lovely people. A great introduction to lovely Alnwick!
