“Cosy, comfortable accommodation in the heart of Northumberland”

My partner and I have now stayed at the Middle'In on a couple of occasions, and each time immediately vowed to return. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and ideally situated in the centre of Alnwick - with parking conveniently located just around the corner. Even at the most leisurely of paces, you will find the Middle'In no more than a five minute walk from the middle of the town and the variety of cafes, shops and pubs that Alnwick has to offer. The castles at Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh and Warkworth all find themselves easily within striking distance - each offering pleasant drives through the rugged and beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Further afield, Kielder Observatory, perhaps a two-hour drive to the East, is not to be missed should you be lucky enough to have a clear night sky forecast.

The welcome basket and - as far as my memory serves me - the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on really set this place apart as a 'home from home' (apologies for the cliché!); with both being very gratefully appreciated after a long journey up the M1! Perhaps most importantly of all; you will be exceptionally hard-pressed to find a more kind and accommodating host than Joanna, who has always pulled out all of the stops to ensure that we (and, I have no doubt at all, all of her guests) could not have been made more welcome. I have said it before - and I shall say it again - we will be back!

“Fantastic cosy apartment in the heart of Alnwick”
Reviewed December 4, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

A truly brilliant find, right in the middle of Alnwick with views overlooking the castle. The location couldn't have been better. Plenty of first-rate pubs and restaurants within less than 5 minutes walk. The apartment itself has a good kitchen, really comfy armchairs and a brilliant king-size bed.

The owner was really helpful when we had questions after booking, and was very accommodating when we ended up being several hours late due to our car breaking down en-route, you really couldn't ask for anything more.

Oh, and cake, cookies & a bottle of wine waiting to welcome us in?! What a lovely touch!

A truly fantastic find and would recommend to anyone.

“Perfect Location”
Reviewed September 27, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

This lovely flat is clean, well appointed, especially the wide and comfortable bed, comes with a very generous welcome basket and is perfectly positioned for visitors to explore both the fascinating town of Alnwick, (do not miss the Castle, the Tree House or especially Barter Books in the old railway station), and the surrounding countryside, ((Cragside, the Farne Islands, Lindisfarne etc etc). Only two minor downticks, one is the lack of wifi, which i think is becoming almost mandatory for holiday lets, and the second is that I have just seen that the owner offers free tickets to Alnwick gardens which we would have enjoyed but which we missed, (this may of course have been our fault and not the owners). Otherwise a hearty recommendation

Management Response
Oct 4, 2015
Many thanks for your lovely review and we are delighted you enjoyed your holiday and Welcome basket. Currently WiFi is available through a local BT hub, for a small cost, and we will look into your suggestion of this being free for next season.

You booked your holiday prior to the special deal which offered tickets for Alnwick Gardens. From time to time we do put on different special offers, for example we are currently offering 4 nights for the price of 3, during the low season. Its worth keeping an eye out for discounted weeks and added extras such as tickets to the Gardens.

You are entitled to a £50 discount should you book again with us (we offer this to all our returning guests who book a full weeks holiday at the normal tariff) and we would be delighted to Welcome you back.

Thanks again for taking the time to leave such a positive review, we are very grateful to all guests who do that and we were delighted to get our Certificate of Excellence award last year, because of such kindness.

Wonderful apartment, right opposite the portcullis fate to Alnwick castle. Lovely welcome basket in place, and after a 7 hour journey the wine was consumed with gusto and pronto! Snug and cosy, well appointed, fantastically comfy bed! Grant location for town centre and to view the tour of Britain from our windows! Wifi would be a bonus but that's the only slight down point. Joanna made everything very easy! Lovely

“Well appointed apartment in central location”
Reviewed May 28, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. We were greeted with a welcome basket of essential and luxury items including some gluten free cakes for me !! (very thoughtful and much appreciated ) We met the owner during our stay and she was very friendly and helpful in suggesting places to eat etc. The apartment was well located for many tourist attractions including Alnwick Castle and gardens, Cragside(NT ) Chillinghurst, Bamburgh Castle(NT) , the Farne Islands,Holy Island and Lindisfarne also delicious gluten free fish and chips at Neptunes in Seahouses!! We would definitely recommend a stay at Middle'In and hope to return ourselves

“Perfect location, home from home with lots of thoughtful extras”
Reviewed April 29, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

The location couldn't have been better just a few minutes stroll from the shops and eateries but far away enough from the hustle and bustle. We weren't amused by noisy revellers leaving a private party at the castle late on the Saturday night/very early Sunday morning but we made up for it by enjoying people watching from the window seat as they arrived when we guessed that a broken night's sleep was likely. It only happened once so wasn't a problem.

The Middle'In was exceptionally well appointed with many thoughtful extras provided, especially in the kitchen which enabled us to cook easily on several evenings. Every last detail and thought went into making it a comfortable and enjoyable stay from the board games, fresh flowers and welcome pack. Thank you so much making it such a lovely place to stay, I have already recommended it to a friend who is planning to visit.
