“Excellent Italian food at good prices”

A really good meal with son and his wife.We all had different dishes from a large selection with a good bottle of house red wine. Good service from very friendly staff. Excellent value.

“Top restaurant in Alnwick”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Cannot recommend this place enough. Fantastic freshly cooked food, delicious and so reasonably priced. Yeah, you cannot book a table so you take your chances but well worth trying, in our mind this is by far the best restaurant in Alnwick ( in fact, our best restaurant full stop! ). Staff friendly too.

“If you like Italian food this is not the place to eat!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Busy little restaurant, cheerful helpful staff. Huge variety of food to choose from but unfortunately what we ordered had no flavour.
We waited a good 20 mins before being offered a drink and a further 20 mins to order our food.
We both had calamari as it is one of our favorites for a starter and we were very disappointed. This was clearly deep fried from frozen and was swimming in oil on the plate. This had no flavour and seemed mass produced as all the pieces were identical and much thinner than we have ever had before.
Main course; I had the calzone and i have to say I have never seen anything like it. It was like a fat doughnut with a lid! No folding in sight, hardly any cheese in fact hardly any filling and a lot of dough. The promise of Italian spicy sausage is in fact was just pepperoni - Italians will know the difference. I did request to have some chilli added when ordering but they didnt have any! no fresh, no dried, no chilli!! I have never been to an Italian restaurant who do not have chilli's!!!!
My partner had seafood pasta which had no flavour, was very watery and although it looked authentic it just tasted of pasta.
We were offered some cheese (which was not fresh parmesan as we were told but the processed pre grated variety) and some freshly ground black pepper which thankfully helped. Wish they had left it on the table though but the waiter / waitresses insisted on holding onto these like they were gold dust!
We waited a long time for our bill as did the tables either side of us, even though there were people waiting to occupy tables. This made us feel quite uncomfortable. In the end I went to the bar to pay.
We wouldn't go again, you will see people say; cheap and good value however I would have to disagree. It still wasn't worth what we paid. Disappointing.

“Great food great value”
Reviewed August 25, 2012 via mobile

Extensive Italian menu. Can't book but small bar area (or pub next door from which you get called through when your table is free). Very good friendly service. Recommend it if you are looking for great Italian food at a very reasonable price.

“Good but a bit cramped”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

The food in this Italian restaurant was very good but it is quite small and, even quite early in the evening, we saw several customers turned away as they do not take bookings.
