first of all: we've met a welcoming landlady with friendly staff. Breakfast in the guestroom was very good and we had a lot of laughs with the other guests. therefore we would grant 5 stars, but ...
... the b&b is situated on a busy road (traffic dies down at night) and a well-attended pub opposite. so it can get rather loud and it did while we were there. absolutely annoying. however the bathroom perspirate a mouldy charme because of the lack of ventilation. we think the place is a little overpriced.

Stayed here this weekend, the owners do not live in the b&b but were very accomodating and met us at the b&b to let us in earlier than our arranged time. the location was ideal, just a stones throw from Alnwick Garden and on the mainroad near the arch. The room was big enough (room 4) with a large wardrobe with full length mirror, flat screen tv mounted on the wall, the bed was very comfortable and had an iron, kettle, hairdryer etc. the en-suite was on the small side, but more than adequate and it was all very clean and there was a good breakfast selection. I would definately stay here again

Room Tip: We were at the back so didn't encounter any noise

arrived on speck, and only looking for somewhere central, clean and warm for an overnight stop. This B&B fitted the bill. Good sized room, comfortable beds and close to the castle and town centre. Bathroom was a bit on the small side, so if you are on the large side it might be a challange to move around in there!! Breakfast was ok, not startling, but freshly cooked and tasty. The owner \ staff were friendly and welcoming. On e downside is that it is on the main road which was never really quiet through out the night, but on the whole it was good value for money.

My mum, daughter and I had a wonderful bank holiday weekend at the end of May at this B&B. The staff were friendly, the room was modern, comfortable and prettily decorated. Brreakfast was hearty. Only a very short walk to the castle and gardens it is perfectly placed for visiting these attractions and convenient for restaurants and other amenities.

We booked this hotel 18months prior to our stay in Alnwick as we were visiting for a friends wedding. We paid a deposit and I confirmed the booking six months before our stay and again the week before. On both occasions the owner knew of our booking and confirmed we had paid a deposit. We arrived at the B & B to find it was locked - this did not concern me as we had read the owner didnt live there so I phoned the number on the door. The owner answered and told me she did not have room for us and had booked us into another B & B. We didnt have any choice but to stay at the other B and B which was on the outskirts on Alnwick and although very nice was not to our taste. ( the owner was not in any way linked to this B& B) feeling very cross we spoke to the owner who's excuse was "well what do you want me to do about it, there are people staying in the rooms" Having booked so far in advance this seemed a very sorry excuse. My friend had also booked a room at castlegate, but because all the other B & Bs were full she had been booked into 2 separate B & Bs for her three night stay. We did manage to reclaim our deposit, but i would be very wary of booking here as this woman clearly doesn't have any idea how to run a successful business and seems to think it acceptable to re-book people into other accomodation without notifying them.

The breakfast was adequate and generous in portions served by a jovial and friendly lady.If you are a tea drinker it is made beforehand so can be stewed, ask for a fresh pot.The room was okay, clean and tidy, however too much furniture squeezed in plus bed small and short in length. Location is good to explore the county plus walk into the attractive town of Alnwick is 2 minutes with some good eateries especially Carlo's fish and chips.

Room Tip: Rooms 5 and 6 are at the back of the house so less traffic noise

Rooms have all recently been done up very nice and clean. Breakfast was lovely. Yes you have to get front door key from under ? but then you had your own key to front door and your room not a problem.

Tracey was very friendly and helpful.
Only complaint which has nothing to do with the host is the traffic noise very early in the morning if you have a fornt room, but then again it is on the main road into Alnwick!
