Ranked #40 of 68 Alnwick B&B and Inns

We stayed at the Courtyard Garden in Alnwick for 2 nights. Maureen and Peter were excellent hosts, very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Their local knowledge and recommondations were invaluable. The room was stylish and comfortable with good facilities, which all made for a relaxing and welcoming stay.

I would also recommend the Alnwick gardens and especially the Treehouse restuarant for a unique dining experience (Sunday Lunch is excellent and good value too!)

Our first time in Northumbria and the 2 night stay at the Courtyard in Alnwick turned out to be a little short... firstly there is so much to do in the vacinity - wonderful beaches, castles, houses, and boat trips to the Farne Islands are all there to be explored - and the stay we had at the Courtyard Gardens certainly made the stay a very special.
It started with the welcome we got from Maureen - a lovely and much welcome cuppa in the lovely lounge/breakfast room to a splendid room (ensuite - fab large bathroom) - we stayed in the courtyard room husband is quite a tall chap and the bed was more than a match for him - the breakfast was sublime with local Craster kippers on offer if requested (best kippers I've ever had) or full english with local sausage and bacon... scrum... and the help given by Maureen and Peter, to make sure we got the best out of our stay was superb... from restaurant recommendations - including a lift from Peter to the Treehouse restaurant to checking the tide times for Holy Island and, as we were a little too early in the season for regular trips, organising a trip to the Farne Islands - , a glass of bubbly was the icing on the cake. Thank you Maureen & Peter for making this the best B&B experience we've experienced.

We chose this B&B for a short weekend away to enjoy some of the sights of northumberland and could not recommend it more highly. The owners, Peter and Maureen, were incredibly helpful in recommending places to visit and where to eat, the cooked breakfast was superb and the en-suite room exceeded all our expectations. In addition the B&B is situated less than 2 minutes walk from the heart of Alnwick.
We very much hope we will get the oppportunity to return soon.

Peter & Maureen are wonderful hosts who made our stay enjoyable and comfortable.
All our needs were catered for at the Courtyard Garden.
The breakfasts were excellent with fresh fruit and juices and cereal to start and a great full English breakfast to follow.
Nothing was too much trouble, we had booked a table at the Treehouse in Alnwick Garden on our first night and Peter kindly drove us down there.
The rooms were lovely in a victorian style with a lovely comfortable bed and roll top bath in the en suite.
We stayed in the church view room which was a generous size.
The B & B is located very close to the town centre which had several good restaurants.
It is also perfectly placed to explore all the delights of the northumbrian coast.

My husband and I, and my sister and brother-in-law, stayed here for one night in July on a short tour to Bamburgh, Alnwick, Beamish and York. As soon as we arrived we all wished that we'd arranged to stay longer! The owners, Peter and Maureen, are extremely helpful and friendly. Peter came to the car to help us take our luggage up to the rooms and Maureen offered us tea and coffee which we had out in their beautifully kept garden as it was a warm summer evening.
There are only two guest rooms (which was part of the appeal), and they are large, comforable and beautifully decorated in Victorian style but with modern amenities. My husband and I had "Courtyard View" which, as its name suggests, looks over the garden area at the back of the house. Our large en-suite bathroom was down a few steps from the room and had all the toiletries you could possibly need. My sister and brother-in-law had "Church View" which looked over St Paul's church. Their bedroom was furnished with antiques and they had a large iron bedstead. Their bathroom had a roll-top bath. As they are both very interested in antiques, this room suited them perfectly.
The breakfast was very good, and we didn't have to order what we wanted the previous evening as happens so often at B&Bs. As well as cereal, toast and juice, we also had quite a large choice for the cooked items for breakfast, and there was a bowl of fresh strawberries.
Peter and Maureen took time to discuss places of interest and restaurants that they recommended. The Courtyard Garden is a short walk to the centre of town and the Castle so is in an ideal location. We had dinner at The Art House, on the street called Bongate Within, which we all enjoyed. We'll be back in Alnwick and we'll definitely stay at the Courtyard Garden again!
