Greycroft really is a hidden gem. A well built house close to the centre of Alnwick (and close to Barter Books - a huge secondhand bookshop), with solid walls, and therefore very little noise. Parking was on-street right outside the house but seemed safe enough.

Our hosts (Tom & Audrey) were excellent - interested in us and our plans for the day and very caring in nature. The house seemed to run like a well oiled machine; nothing was too much trouble. We booked the family room rather late - a lovely large space with four beds (apparently to be turned into a suite in the future? - now that's a great idea because the room looks over the most beautiful garden with lots and lots of birds). It was all very clean and had a good size shower room (no bath). The bedroom furniture was made of good quality oak.

There was a small lounge for visitors with a good selection of local guide books. I would have liked a dedicated internet connection but it seemed to be a shared facility. The breakfasts were very good indeed. Orders were taken the night before and the quality of the food was outstanding as was the quantity! All in all to be recommended as the owners have worked hard to put together a really high quality B&B experience.

By the way, if you go make sure that you visit Alnwick Castle Gardens - just magnificent.

Just spent two nights at this beautiful B & B and I couldn't have asked for more!! Tom & Audrey are the perfect hosts and it was a real home from home!! We were in the Green Room which was perfect, never have i slept in such a comfortable bed!! Alnwick was lovely but Bamburgh, Cragside and Holy Island are well worth a visit!! Would def return to Greycroft, hopefully in the not too distant future!!!

We spent two nites at this lovely b and b. We regret that it was not longer. Tom and Audrey were the perfect hosts. The inn was beautiful and tastefully decorated. It was obviously well maintained. The family room that we used was fabulous. Tom and Audrey added small touches to the rooms that really made our stay comfortable. Tom even made my wife kippers for breakfast after she stated that she had never tried them. This added effort shows one example of how Tom and Audrey are willing to go above and beyond normal expectations of what a host should be. They offered advice on sites in the area as well as places to eat. Our grandsons loved the daily treats that Audrey placed in our room. When we arrived, we were greeted with hot tea and cookies. They could not have been any nicer to us.

Excellent location in Alnwick. Very quiet yet only 2 mins walk to town centre.
Plenty of eating places recommended by Tom and Audrey, all were good.
The facilities at Greycroft are excellent.
Breakfast in the conservatory was an ideal start to the day.
Would have no hesitation in returning or recommending to family and friends.

We had a great 4 days staying with Tom and Audrey . We were made so welcome on arrival with a cuppa and a chat in their beautiful cottage garden before showing us to our comfortable room .Breakfast was excellent with something for all tastes . With their sense of humour and our Yorkshire banter we had many laughs together Their sight-seeing knowledge helped us plan our activities with ease.

Having been in the B&B business for sixteen years we knew from the very first contact that Tom & Audrey were going to be excellent host's. We and our five friends were not disappointed everything was perfect. Book well in advance the good words are spreading to all our other friends. The Bowes will not let you down and the location is ideal for all the local attractions.

Audrey and Tom give hospitality their all, and Greycroft is certainly hospitable, from the unusual entrance (through the conservatory where you will admire the garden during breakfast), via the grand hall and stairs to your plush room which has all you'll need for a comfy stay. There's a cuppa on the way while you settle in so leave the bickies and chocs alone! This has only been a guest house for a year, and the conversion (including adding seven bathrooms) must have been a major task. As always, attention to detail has paid off.
One of my gripes with many places is uncorrected faults in radios, tvs, phones or (worst of all) bathrooms. Needless to say, at Greycroft everything works beautifully.
Alnwick looks a lovely place though we didn't have time to see much of it, but don't miss Barter Books at the former station.
