If you are looking to rent a narrow boat in England, definitely go with Steve and Stephanie at Grand Union Narrow boats. Their boats are beautiful and you won’t regret it. We have been travelling on the Tassleweed for the last two weeks and even though she is 70 ft long, she handles like a dream. There is plenty of space for two couples and even though the boat is rated for six, we find it is perfect for 4 adults. Weedon is the perfect place to leave from, giving you several options to travel. If this is your first narrow boat experience, don’t be nervous! You are in great hands with this company. We are so sad to see our journey come to end on Friday but we will definitely be back!! Thank you Grand Union Narrow Boats for an amazing holiday! Your Nova Scotia, Canadian friends!!❤️

Welcomed by Steve at the yard we felt at ease immediately, this was our first time on a canal boat but Steve and Phil ensured that we knew everything we needed to know, Phil walked us through everything on the boat before heading off for a couple of miles to get us used to steering and handling the boat. We then went through 6 locks before we were moored up near to a pub, just in time for dinner!
There was milk in the fridge, a bottle of wine, tea towels, kitchen roll and washing up liquid. Fresh flowers in a lovely painted jug, small toiletries on the bed and fresh towels are also provided, these touches make such a difference!
The boat is spotless and cozy, with plenty of storage space, a great little shower and a comfy bed.
There are really detailed, easy to follow maps and even some games and books.
We had the best week on this lovely boat, travelling up to Market Harborough and back, watching the world go by and will most definitely be doing it again!

If you are a novice but want to try a different off the grid holiday look no further. The training you get on the narrowboat when you collect it is second too none. The staff are amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, competent and helpful. Phil and Geoff we salute you! This was the most relaxing holiday ever. No phones, no cars, no noise and generally just friendly people along the way. After day 1 we could manoever the boat like a pro's! The scenery was awesome and I got some amazing photos of wildlife. The boat was so clean and the nice touch of flowers, a pint of milk in the fridge and complimentary toiletries did not go unnoticed. Steve the owner is an all round top bloke and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend narrow boating and very highly recommend it with Grand Union Narrow Boats if you want a stress free holiday with faultless customer service!

A very enjoyable and memorable week out and about. We pottered up to Welford and back.
There was 5 of us and 2 dogs aboard Tasselweed.
Couldn’t fault the boat or the service (especially from Steve) in any way.
Standby for a thorough briefing when you take over the boat there is a lot of information to take in! But there is a file on board with everything written down incase you need refreshing.
Tasslweed is 70ft long and could be a handful, I’m glad we’ve done narrow boats before. However there is a bow thruster which was very handy.
The boat was clean and had all the equipment we needed (and more) for our comfortable cruise. It even had tablets for the dishwasher!
Definitely recommended and would use their boats again.

This was our first time on a narrow boat so a little apprehensive but we need not have worried. Steve and his crew couldn’t have done more, putting us at complete ease taking us through induction and then even accompanying us on the first leg of our journey which included taking us through our first flight of locks. Our boat Ragweed was spotless and clearly well maintained. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time and will be definitely booking again next year. Next week if one of the two of us had their way.
