It is widely known as the home of the British Grand Prix, which was first hosted there in 1948 and which has been held on the circuit yearly since 1987. Silverstone Circuit was built on the site of World War II Royal Air Force bomber station, RAF Silverstone.

Myself & my partner attended the 2011 Grand Prix.

I've never been to silverstone before and to be honest formula 1 doesn't really interest me .... But wow probably one of the best weekends I've ever had!!!

It did absolutely tip it down nearly everyday so ended up pretty wet & soggy but it didn't bother us.

The atmosphere was great!!! I'd definitely recommend !!

The only thing that could be improved is maybe more things to do & look at in between races.

Treated my husband to a ticket sitting at the start of the race and nothing - NOTHING can prepare you for the andrenalin and atmosphere of this place. It is absolutely crazy and worth every penny. Only thing is don't plan to leave after the races straight away - you'll be caught in traffic for hours but DO IT!!

Come and visit us in Silverstone. The circuit is not just for the F1 Grand Prix but has loads of events from March to November. We have some great B & B's in the village as well as a superb village store, a pub, a post office and two Churches. Its a fantastic place located midwad between the M1 and the M40 with a dual carriageway linking both. Come and visit us in Silverstone.

We attended Silverstone in July for the Formula One Meeting, tickets for Becketts for Friday,Saturday and race day Sunday. Our base for the meeting was Premiere Inn at Ansty Coventry so we travelled down for the three days.Luckily we pre paid our car parking for Whittlesbury 9 months previous which for the meeting was like winning the lotto because of all the rain over the meeting,we approached the curcuit as directed on a different route,no queuing and through the gatehouse checkpoint to a hard standing in the Orangery,MAGIC.We were only a short distance from the circuit, wellys needed but the weather did not spoil our enjoyment,i was like electric tingling with excitment.Silverstone is one of my favourite places, steeped in history there are loads of places to purchase food which cater for all tastes and i would say reasonable. There are plenty of stands, covered and uncovered and plenty of general addmission viewing areas, but i only once went general addmission and it was terrible, like a mad house, its costs a fair bit but book a stand and on race day its great because you no you have a seat.Take my advice if you are going down to camp for the meeting or commuting daily pre book all your needs at Whittlesbury, like i say you approach the curcuit from a different direction, they close Whittlesbury Village so there is no through road so this approach is only for Whittlesbury traffic.

Visited Silverstone for the first time since the major track changes for the 2012 MotoGP race. I have to say the improvements are pretty clear, the surrounding road system is much better than it used to be, and offers relatively congestion free driving into the circuit. Heavy congestion upon leaving though which was a tad frustrating. The parking is by far improved too, with lots more hard surface parking than there used to be. However the direction into the car parks seemed to be in total confusion with parking marshals directing people all over the place which didn't help. And heavy rain over the days previous meant I wouldn't have wanted to be parking in the grass fields next to the entrance roads as some people clear had to.

Nevertheless, the facilities are good, lots of viewing points and a great circuit to go with it. It is pretty expensive though, some of the prices for refreshments etc. are incredible. The tickets for the MotoGP were reasonable but tickets for other events can seem pretty expensive and usually in severely short supply.
