Before I carry-on, overall we had a reasonable day out at Wicksteed Park, and the kids enjoyed themselves.
HOWEVER...to be honest I think the whole thing is really over-priced for what is on offer. The rides are tired, and considering today was supposed to be the first 'full' day with 'all' rides open, the vast majority were closed. "It's due to the weather" was the standard response, however it was fine today, little wind (although freezing cold!), dry and no snow about - why the vast majority of the rides were closed I don't know.
I would say not to bother with the tickets, and get a wristband - it probably works-out cheaper for the vast majority of folks.
In addition, do the staff actually receive any training before they are let loose on the public? Don't get me wrong they were all very pleasant and tried to help as much as they could, but to be brutally honest the vast majority of them didn't have a clue (mainly in the 'catering' areas). Most of them didn't even know where all the stuff was kept...very poor really. The impression we had was that they were just shown an area to stand in and told "Do the best you can...". Half of me felt sorry for them, but the other half just got more and more annoyed each time we had to deal with them.
It's naturally very early on in the season, but today was supposed to be the first day the park was fully-open - it certainly wasn't.
With some more attention to detail, better staff training and some investment this park could be a real Gem.
