“Excellent Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

Visited this restaurant for a business lunch, service was good and food was excellent. Fawsley Hall is in beautiful suroundings, well worth a visit. We were the only people in the restaurant and so it lacked a little atmosphere, perhaps a set menu option lunch maybe a good idea. It was a little expensive, but I guess as it is 2 miles from the nearest main road it is not designed to attract business customers. Go if you want to spoil yourself and enjoy the spectacular surroundings.

“Lovely surroundings but poor kitchen service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

This could be very nice indeed. We were a family group who went there for Sunday lunch. The surrounding buildings are beautifully decorated and the actual restaurant is spacious with comfortable chairs and good linen and cutlery etc. The menu is quite restrictive but seems to cater for most tastes. When the food came it was good - but it took ages to arrive. This was not the fault of the waiter and waitress who were very attentive and friendly - it seemed to us that the food took a long time to come up from the kitchen. As soon as it arrived it was served promptly by the staff but the soup was lukewarm and other courses were not as hot as they should have been. Perhaps there is a problem getting food out of the kitchen?
The Hall itself is lovely - out in the countryside so it takes a while to get there from anywhere. The staff need to make sure it is worth the travel, and they could easily do so because the basics are all there - buildings, atmosphere etc.

“Nice but wanted more.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

I've been here once before with my husband on a Monday night and we were the only people there so it lacked atmosphere and warmth. This time we were with two friends and whilst we had a lovely time because we were with our friends Fawsley lacks the quality of cuisine I expect from such a splendid building. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to the Great Hall which is beautiful and again we were tended by a very friendly wine waiter. We ate at the Brasserie - I believe the menu is the same but the room less formal - and this is where I expected more. I expected to be served warm bread and given a choice not just given a plate of four rolls consisting of two white and two brown. I had a shared starter of brie and Italian charcuterie which was described as vegetarian - when I pointed this out I was told well the brie is vegetarian (well that's alright then!). I had seabass for main which needed more sauce and roasted plums for pudding which was lovely. The staff were attentive and the wine list was good; the menu looked good and my companions were satisfied with their meals but no-one was over-whelmed. A nice place but could and should be so much better.

“Afternoon tea service could have been better”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

We had afternoon tea in The Great Hall here and the service really could have been better. We were a group of a dozen and felt rather frowned upon as the waiter and watress really acted as though they had better things to do and the service took ages. I was disappointed with that.

On the plus side, the platter of sandwiches three of us had was plentiful and the biscuits really delicious. One pot of tea was £3.95 but we got eight cups out of it (bear this in mind when ordering!) The atmoshere in the Great Hall with the Christmas decorations and log fire was wonderful.

“Overpriced, over-rated. It`s all over..............”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2012

A lovely place, but VERY poor service and extremely dull and DRY sandwiches. Were they made the day before???? Wouldn`t be so bad if the sanwiches were a few pence each, that`s all they were worth, but they cost a few notes, which is extortionate. When we pointed out that the sandwiches were dry, the young lady was quite rude and abrupt. So to summarise, High prices, for low quality rubbish, and poor and rude service to boot!
