The Maltsters was the venue for my daughter's wedding in August.
The whole process leading up to the day was made easy by Richard and his staff. They were really helpful, supportive and couldn't do enough to make it easy for us. They responded positively to our last minute requests with good humour. They all had an easy assurance which gave us great confidence in them.
On the day, the venue, food and service were faultless. We felt as if the whole hotel was given over to us yet they still had their regular Saturday trade too.
Many guests stayed at the hotel that night and enjoyed a very full english the next morning.
Thank you all for making our families and friends so welcome and making what should have been a memorable day exactly that.

This pub never fails to deliver delicious homely food, in a fun and friendly environment. I am a vegetarian and Richard makes sure there are plenty of dishes for me to choose from. My husband on the other hand loves the meat pies! Thank you for a great evening .

I went to the Maltsters on Wednesdy for a business meeting and dinner afterwards. Richard the owner couldn't have been more accommodating of our needs - ensuring we had a quiet area for our meeting and keeping a discreet check on whether we needed anything (Wi-Fi was included and free). The food was fantastic, Guiness and Stilton pie with a generous amount of locally sourced meat, the vegetarian in our group was delighted with her option of vegetarian sausages with wholegrain mustard and mash all in all the food was good value for money and delicious.

I am delighted to say that Richard, the owner, has acted upon my negative comments before and has now provided ramps so that disabled patrons can eat the very good food on offer at this refurbished country pub. Bothe the bar and the restaurant offer good dining facilities and the menu is varied, reasonably priced and made with good qulaity ingredients. The 'surf and turf' salad is delicious. On a Thurs they also do an excellent 'Seniors' lunch which is exceptional value, good quality and more than adequate portions. The bar and serving staff are very helpful, welocoming and pleasant: nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Malsters a couple of weeks ago as we were at a wedding near by. At first we were disappointed that we couldn't get in at the wedding venue, but clearly things were meant to be. The Malsters was so friendly and welcoming and the staff could not do enough for you. We decided to stay on for Sunday lunch and the food was excellent with a varied menu. The rooms were spot less and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it for a country escape, and we intend to go back to do some of the fabulous walks close by, and would not hesitate to stay there again.
