A pleasant stay in November, with a nice comfortable and warm room, good food and a lively bar and restaurant. I would happily stay again and the place is excellent value for money with a good wine list.

The landlord was pleasant enough to me and us, but you could see how it could be different if you caught him on the wrong day or you were a little too meek

Enjoy this quite part of the Wolds with fantastic food and luxury rooms, reasonably priced but the food and wine were divine! I read some of the previous entries, the host was great with a dry humour, not to everyone's taste but he certainly made our group laugh, at my expense of course!! A fantastic place and we will be back I am sure.

Room Tip: Laurent Perrier room, fabulous!

This place was recommended to us by a friend. Having read some of the reviews, we were not sure what to expect.

What we found was a really nice establishment with a warm feel. The food was awesome and the service from the staff was excellent.

We stayed the night in the Bollinger suit. It's a very nice room with bathroom tastefully decorated in Bollinger memorabilia.

The manager has had a bit of stick on here, but we found him friendly and polite. His knowledge of wine was very good and the price of Dom Perignon vintage 1999 at £110 a bottle is a lot less then we've paid before.

Would we go back?? Yes we would!! A nice setting, warm cosy bar / restaurant, great choice of wine / champagne and fantastic food.

Perfect. Wonderful place to unwind. We arrived and were met by a friendly yet professional owner. The standard of his service was delivered by all his staff. Wonderful accommodation, wonderful food, the lamb I had was the best ever....and again excellent customer service shown throughout our stay. Will definitely visit again.

Recently booked a celebration meal for a family birthday. Super efficient and friendly staff, beautiful bar with roaring log fire, candle lit tables. Superb menu sourced from first class local produce. Soon after we placed our order, we were taken into the restaurant which was again beautifully presented.

The food was out of this world. I had a sirloin steak for main which was mouth watering. The starter and dessert were also delicious. Waiting staff catered for our every need.

Every aspect of the place was immaculate - the toilets were sparkling.

I would highly recommend the Blue Bell as a place to eat. If I did not live in the area, I am positive it would be a place I want to come and stay! It is a perfect place for that extra special celebration!

I am already planning our next celebration and the Blue Bell is definitely number one on the list of where to go.

We had Sunday Lunch for the third time on 11th November, having enjoyed the meals on the earlier visits.
On this occasion we were seated in the restaurant, which is a cosy, pleasant room with lots of ornaments etc. Previously we were in the bar area, which again is very nice, with a vast array of knick-knacks on the walls, floor and even on the ceiling! We both had Roast Beef, which was perfectly cooked and very tender. The vegetables were also cooked to perfection, and very tastey. Excellent cup of coffee too.
The waiting staff were attentive, helpful and efficient, having obviously been well trained.
Our only criticism would be the rather brusque manner of the owner/manager. He was a little better on our third visit, having been quite rude on a previous occasion, when we expressed mild disappointment that the roast beef had run out! He should take lessons from his staff!!!
We will be returning soon.

Just arrived home from a one night stay and certainly would not go back again. We were led to our room via a corridor with a dirty carpet through a stiff door to a family room which did not have any heating or hot water. An electrical portable heater was supplied which initially made the room too hot so we turned it off however when we turned it back on it didn't work. Although the room was pleasant enough the bathroom was tiny and had a horrible smell, it was also freezing . We did mention that we had no hot water to the manager who we found to be a little bit abrupt to be told he would look at this but did not apologise.

The restaurant was another matter, beautiful food, well presented, very good staff and a good choice of wines served in a lovely room, the breakfast was the same.

In summary beautiful food in lovely settings, unaccceptable room which we were charged full price for and a manager with no customer service skills. For this reason we will be taking our business and MONEY else where in the future.

The ratings below are for the accomodation only and not the food or not the service in the restaurant,

Room Tip: A member of our family stayed in a champagne room for not much more money than we paid and the diffe...
