The rooms are small but modern and practical, with a good sized fridge and safe. Free wifi (on all devices) and a desk make it good for business stays. It wasn't immaculately clean, but it wasn't dirty by any means. I did have a problem with one of my own coat hangers going missing from my room which annoyed me, particularly as I asked reception to replace it and they never did. I know it's only a coat hanger, but that's not the point. There is no reason that the cleaner would have picked it up and taken it out. The restaurant was good although expensive for a hotel chain restaurant and the staff were very friendly. There was a wedding reception in the bar but I wouldn't recommend it as a wedding venue. The best thing about the hotel was the free access to the gym (located in the same car park) which had good equipment, a swimming pool and sauna and steam room. In summary, there is nothing special about it but it is practical.

From the outside looks a bit of a dump, but once inside great, rooms 1st class food 1st class, prices in bar a wee bit expencive £3.20 for a pint of lager, but dont let that put you off.
We traveled down from Scotland and found to hotel very easily(you cannot miss it)
Staff great decor was better than expected.Family friendly.
Rooms at front of hotel a wee bit noisey but rooms at the back very quite.

Room Tip: light sleepers get a room at back of the hotel no view but quite

Members of my family have recently stayed at the Scotch Corner Holiday Inn just of the A1 at its junction with the A66, one route over the Pennines. I knew this hotel many, many years ago when I grew up in Yorkshire and it has returned to the the standard its was then, a first class establishment. One cousin had stayed in the hotel 5 years ago, before it became a Holiday Inn and was very pleased with its transformation.
One member of the party has disability issues and a suitable room was found for them, which was one of the best they have ever found on their travels.
The staff were extremely helpful and all areas of the hotel were a pleasure to relax and spend time in. In addition there are now 2 new members of the Priority Club and they will look for Holiday Inns in future as places to stay.
Congratulations on a superb refurbishment to create a 5 star hotel and the family highly recommend it.

We stayed here on June 28th as part of a large company group due to a charity ball at catterick garrison.

From the outside the hotel looks quite old and grubby. Smack bang on the roundabout of the A1 and our hearts sank. We walked in and was totally blown away.

Friendly modern reception. Brilliant staff could not do enough for us. checked in quickly and efficiently. Went upto the room on the 2nd floor in a large new lift. Room was everything we needed and more.

Large kingsize bed. twin headed shower and bath. Tv with sky tv, fridge with complimentary water and orange juice and a small kitkat.

Room was modern and very very clean ( I am a cleaning manager ) we opened the window to be greeted by heavy road noise however with the window closed it blocked out all of the excess noise.

We had a couple of issues in the room. The tap water pressure in the sink was very low ( a trickle) and also the air con was showing an error code.

We did not complain as it did not bother us that night but informed reception next day and they were very apologetic and thanked us for reporting it.

Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked, With lots of choice and 2 types of great quality sausage. Good preserves and a good selection of continental breakfast and yogurts and fresh fruit.

A good one night stay but i would of happily stayed another night or 2 if we could.

Thanks Holiday Inn!

Room Tip: We were in room 219 and it was a corner room, large and spacious ( also option of interconnecting)

The Hotel looks lovely inside now (if not a bit clinical) and the rooms are well furnished with all that you need. The only issue I had and the reason for the review was breakfast. Only 2 fried eggs ready and some beans - no sausages - no bacon - no mushrooms. Waited for around 5 mins - sausages turned up but weren't cooked except for one side, waited even longer for the bacon. Whilst I was waiting, I put a couple of pieces of bread through the toaster - they came out warm but not toasted. I saw that someone else had put theirs through twice (burnt black) so decided to keep the warm bread and cold egg with warm bacon - yummy (not!) . The lady who was supposed to be going round sorting coffee/tea etc completely missed me (even after waving at her) - To top this all off, the Hotel then tried to charge me 10 pounds for it even though it was already paid for and included on my tariff.

Dear paulonweb,

We welcome feedback especially from our valued guests like you. It's nice to hear that your liked the interior of the hotel and room accommodations. I'm truly sorry to hear that the food served during your stay did not live up to your expectations and regret you were not satisfied with the service you received during breakfast. Your review will be used to reconsider improvements needed and I hope that you can give us a chance to show what we have done.

Thank you for staying with us, and we hope to have an opportunity to serve you again.
