It was a privilege to stay in such a lovely house with such history. Our bed was very comfortable and we had good night's sleep. Angelique was very helpful and cooked a lovely breakfast with home made jams and marmalade. Would recommend it for anyone who wants a b & b with character and very good service.

Room Tip: All rooms were different and had their own character.

We just returned from a trip based at Thorpe hall. It was as good as the website suggested, really interesting building, hosts Angelique and David welcoming and fun, full of good local knowledge. I liked the location, walking distance from Robin Hoods Bay, but being up the hill felt airy with superb views and lovely gardens. As a guest you can use a TV room and a gorgeous lounge with real fire, I think that's a real bonus at a B and B of this price range. We will definitely return!

I recently booked 4 bedrooms for a group trip at the beginning of March. In the lead up to our trip Angelique the owner, was incredibly helpful in discussing bedroom options. On arrival the house was beautiful and in a lovely setting. The house is a walk from Robinhoods bay centre and seafront. Angelique was incredibly welcoming and accommodating and allowed us to make full use of the communal rooms - one which is light and airy (the breakfast room), one which has wood paneling with a cozy fireplace and another with a television. All rooms were equipped with extra blankets and heaters (the house is not double glazed) - although these were not needed. We were given a spare key so were able to access the house whenever we wanted. We all felt that this b&b was excellent value for money at 80 pounds per double room (95 with an additional bed added in). This also includes a full freshly cooked breakfast and choice from a continental buffet too. My only constructive feedback would be that when a fuse blew in two of the upstairs rooms in the evening we were unable to contact the owners to fix it as they were out. Therefore, an emergency contact mobile would be useful in the future. However, it didn't cause any real problems and the privacy we had and the attentive service we received during the day and early evening more than made up for it. Thank you for a lovely weekend. We shall definitely be recommending it others!

Room Tip: The first floor room with original wood paneling is beautiful and has a lovely view over the garden. It has a private bathroom which is down the hallway with freestanding bath.

I loved our stay at Thorpe Hall and can't wait to go back and stay again. The only thing that matches the loveliness of the house, gardens and location is that of the staff themselves.

Due to a car accident and traffic on our way to the hotel we were late for check in and Angelique could not have been more understanding when I spoke to her on the phone. Lorna, who met us when we arrived was very friendly and welcoming and settled us into our rooms and gave a great recommendation of the Fylingdales Inn nearby for food - which was spot on.

The room itself was beautiful - situated on the top floor (we had rooms 7 and 8 so we shared a bathroom, which was fine - but still had a sink in our room) with gorgeous exposed oak beams, a beautiful traditional window and such a lovely soft bed. Despite being rather ill during our stay there, I slept brilliantly and didn't want to get up.

The rest of the house is lovely - particularly the reading room which is original to the house, with wood-burning stove - perfect now the nights are starting to get colder. The gardens are also stunning - and you're free to roam around them as you wish during your time there.

Breakfast was also lovely - good-sized portions of proper Yorkshire breakfast with toast, cereals and juice available - everything is catered for.

They're also very keen to accommodate you as much as possible - they're in no rush to check you out or get your car out of the car park. They really want you to enjoy your time there and thanks to their care and attention, we did!

Thanks so much Angelique, David and Lorna!
