We went for an evening meal to the Grosvenor and ended up in the bar as the restaurant was not open. After a 30 minute wait our meals arrived. The portion size was huge, but everything was luke warm and my steak and Guinness pie looked like it had been dropped onto the plate. They certainly went for quantity over quality. At another table a lady was letting a Chihuahua on her lap eat directly from her plate - very off-putting!

We visited on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening. They do an excellent curry and pint on wednesday (choice of curries). Great entertainment most evenings

Went for a weekend away and the hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were lovely, polite and helpful. The food in the restaurant was also really nice and there was a great atmosphere.

Wanted to try somewhere different to previous two nights and had this recommended so thought I'd give it a try.

I ordered the Garlic Chicken. Other reviews are spot on ... portions are very large - and that's coming from someone with a large appetite and, sadly, the figure to show it.

The food arrived and the chicken was in a separate dish to prevent the sauce from running into the veg and chips - nice touch.

The veg was perfectly cooked - nice and crispy not the oft overcooked soggy rubbish one gets. Oh and another point on veg ... 3 lots :) Mange tout, Carrots and Red Cabbage (my favourite veg)

The chicken was also cooked to perfection and was delicious. The chips, of course, were also delicious.

Excellent meal at a fair price. This reviewer highly recommends this place. will definitely return on future visits to the area.

We were a party of 16 ranging in age from 7 to 51. After walking from Whitby we needed some hearty food before walking back on the cliff walk. The Grosvenor really hit the button. Members of our party had fish and chips which were as good as most chip shops. My wife had a special prawn tagliatelle and I had excellent gammon & chips. All of the dishes were great - not haute cuisine but just what you want mid-walk from a canny pub. Also the proprietors are fine people and very tolerant of children.
