“Lovely Hotel in Stunning Location”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

The hotel exterior is impressive in it's cliff top splendour set above the picturesque Robin Hoods Bay. The interior has a warm traditional feel of days gone by...but with modern comforts. Breakfast excellant. Bar and restaurant both served good quality food at a fair price. Fabulous cakes in the afternoon coffee lounge. Staff and management friendly and cheerful. The jumper we left behind was forwarded on to us with no fuss or charge. Diffucult to find any fault...perfect pre christmas break.

Room Tip: Some rooms have stunning sea views

This is a wonderful hotel. The welcome was great and service fantastic throughout. We asked to upgrade rooms on our second night as the hotel was fully booked on our first. Nothing was too much trouble, Room 1 was lovely with fantastic views from the balcony. Food in the restaurant was really good. A very warm, comfortable, and relaxing place to stay, where quality of service obviously counts. Hope to return soon.

We held our wedding evening party at the Victoria Hotel and had a fantastic time. The hotel looked after our every need and were so flexible that we didn't have to sign up to the standard wedding 3 course meal but instead we ate Chinese Hot Pot cooked by all the guests which is exactly what we wanted and great fun. We were all looked after tremendously throughout the evening by the hotel staff.

Discovered this hotel in the summer when we was staying in Whitby so could only have a drink in the bar. Stayed in this hotel 9th-10th December, greeted warmly on arrival and lots of local information given, shown to a beautiful room (6), it had 4 windows all looking out to sea and the bay. The room was tastefully decorated and well maintained and the bed very comfortable. The Victorian weekend was on down in the village/bay and was great. Breakfast the next morning was superb with plenty of choice and good quality ingredients. All staff we met were very pleasant and the manager let us have out room until 6pm on the day if check out for £10 extra which meant we could walk during the day then have a shower to warm and freshen up before making the journey home.
Many thanks, will be back soon hopefully.

We stayed on 1/1/2013 as a last minute booking, we had been staying in a cottage in RHB but it was the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in.
The Victoria Hotel was by contrast one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in during all our travels.
We found not only were the staff helpful, they were also courteous and happy. It was a joy to have the staff around us smiling and willing to talk to us (when asked) about the area and our stay.
Our room was large, comfortable, clean, well equipped, the bathroom large with both a double shower and roll top slipper bath “heaven”. The veiw was beautiful.
The meal booked with friends on the evening was good (12 of) but the breakfast was superb.
This hotel exceeded all expectations and not only would we recommend to friends but we will return.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 and 3 both have great views. There is a slide show in the family room showing most of the ro...

We stayed on their mid-week 3 nights for 2 in October, the staff are very pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was very good with a wide variety, I tried mackeral for the first time which was very nice.
The room we had (which was number 12 I think) was l-shaped with a sloping ceiling, which was a bit awkward especially if you are tall, the bathroom was a good size with a king-size bath, it has one set of drawers and two bedside drawers, the wardrobe was about 4ft because of the sloping ceiling, so you had to bend down to access it, it had a portable tv on top of it, the tray of beverages was kept topped up if you used any. The view from the room looked over the bay.
The meals in the bar were good, we went to a few others places too which were slightly better.
They also had a restaurant which we didn't try.
The beach is accessible via a steep bank but if you take it easy especially coming back up, its worth it.
We walked to Whitby via the Cleveland Way, which took us about 2 and a half hours, (first time for me)but a word of advice its not for the feint hearted I was crawling by the time I got there, think I should have took more rests, I saw quite a few of the older generation doing the walk too, lol.
All in all 3 days well spent and i would gladly do it again in the same hotel too

We stayed at the Victoria on their mid-week 3 nights for the price of 2 offer in a king size deluxe sea view room mid Nov and I have to say we are already planning our trip back.

It was FANTASTIC and very much the luxury that we were hoping for. We have stayed in many hotels over the years and I can safely say that this was top notch, right from the great young lad on reception who checked us in & showed us to our room through to the lovely lady at reception who checked us out. The food in the bar and the breakfasts were superb and the bar staff were very friendly.

We stayed in room 2 which had a balcony looking out onto the bay. The room was beautiful, very tastefully decorated and lovely snuggly bath robes. Yes, our soap dispenser wasn't working either but guess what? I just used the supplied bar of soap instead - easy!

We cannot wait to return. Thank you to all the staff - you made us feel very welcome. Having just lost my Nan the day we arrived, you really did make us feel welcomed and that says a lot.

Carry on with the renovations, it is looking great :)

Joanne & Dave
