The Flask Inn Holiday Home Park
Reviewed August 27, 2013

I would firstly like to say that if this woman thinks Weatherspoons food is on the same par as The Flask Inn carry on eating there as you have no taste! Me and my wife have eaten there nearly every weekend since the camp site opened this year and my wife normally has the Home-made steak & ale pie with the sage infused pastry lid & Andy's pie is the best she has ever tasted! My next point the staff are some of the most welcoming & helpful we have ever met and nothing is any trouble and will try there utmost to accommodate you. Finally no wonder Nick does not smile when he gets customer like these people through the doors, insults his food & staff. I don't normally comment on trip advisor as i think, and are proved right any one can put anything on these sites and ruin businesses who are doing a fantastic job. I hope people who read these reviews ignore Cara Marsh review & try the Flask Inn yourself s and go on other peoples reviews.

We returned to the Flask holiday park after two years we have had a lovely holiday and the caravans were amazing. The campsite is on the whitby to scarbourgh road and after the "rush hour" of five til six you dont hear anything. What I loved most of all was the clear skies and millions of stars because there was no street lights what an experience.

Just had to write a note to say that a year down the line and the Flask Inn is going from strength to strength. Surroundings - even more comfortable following the renovations and changes to the layout. The Sunday lunch menu (£15.50 for 3 courses, £13.50 for 2 courses) was varied, excellent value and moreover, delicious !... Haddock & leek fishcake served with a soft poached egg & a tartar butter sauce, Roast turkey with all the trimmings and poached pears in a homemade vanilla sponge with caramel sauce - just lovely ! Loads of other choices too and all beautifully presented by friendly and curtious staff. Definitely 'Deserves a detour' if you're in the area or staying nearby and well done to the owners for your continued hard work and investment. We hope we can stay at Grousehill a bit more often this year so we can become 'regulars' !! P.s. The veg comes in little pots but you are always asked if you would like more which is much better than having waste :-)

Room Tip: Didn't stay as an overnight guest - only for lunch. Situated on main Whitby-Scarborough road wit...

Just returned from a weekend at the Grouse Hill Caravan Park and decided to partake of Nicks hospitality at the newly refurbished Flask Inn. Ourselves and friends went in on Friday night to be met by the spectacle of Nick in full female attire, no he isn't a cross dresser, he was doing his bit for Red Nose Day, well done!!! Anyway the Flask has been refurbished beautifully, very warm and welcoming, with plenty of seating and comfy couches. We returned on Saturday tea time with more friends to have a few drinks and a meal. The food was delicious, well presented and plenty to suit even my husbands voracious appetite, he also had a crumble dessert which was served with proper custard (no powder here) which tasted heavenly. A lovely friendly pub, jocular banter and perfect food, what more could you ask for? Well done Nick and staff, see you soon.

Last time I reviewed the Flask Inn last April 2012 I was pleased that Nick Allison had taken back control and that an award winning chef (Tim) was cooking fantastic food. Fast forward to this years Mothers Day and we enjoyed a special 3 course menu for £15.95 served in a newly refurbished pub and separate restaurant area. The refurbishment, needed to match the excellence of the service and food, is fantastic, just the right combination of comfortable pub and gastro dining so you can choose which you prefer. We sat at table in the pub area, opposite a lovely 'wood' burner in a stone inglenook fireplace listening to a hum of friendly conversation at the bar but we could have chosen the restaurant area had we preferred more privacy and elegance. Photos of the refurbishment will be on the Flask website soon (I forgot my camera) and hopefully menu samples too to give potential diners a chance to salivate before or after booking.

Room Tip: I only dined so cannot comment on rooms, I do know they all been refurbished however so should be go...

This is a small, quirky, inexpensive hotel (more like a motel or B & B) that can act as an excellent base for regional touring including to Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. It is next to a small pub that does good cheap food, and it has great views across the moor and towards the sea. Our room was adequate, clean, a little dark but equipped with all the usual facilities and we slept well. Small but friendly staff. The best bit was the ample, excellent full English breakfast. Overcome any aesthetic snobbery you may have and it's a very good deal.
