“Great Inn with a wonderful host”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Last Sunday I stayed at the Holly Hill Inn with friends and family who were supporting a group of bikers riding Wainwright's Coast to Coast route. The rooms were clean, spacious and warm with good facilities. If the Inn was great the host Joanne was even better. She found camping for the bikers when we were unable. She allowed our lads to sing and play the guitar. She sent around trays of hot beef sandwiches and even gave us a donation for our cause. The next morning she arranged for her chef to make hot breakfast sandwiches for the team members before they set off on the next leg of their journey. Our breakfasts where exceptional. Many thanks Joanne and team!

Room Tip: All rooms were good - at the back of the Inn - The upstairs ones have wonderful views over Richmond

stayed here 5/5/13 with a group of friends doing the coast to coast bike ride, the landlady Jo had arranged with the farmer for the the riders to camp in the field behind the pub, but the support team hired 3 rooms, the rooms were fantastic with our room [2] overlooking the stunning richmond castle.although the pub was not doing food on sunday night, after feeding our faces in richmond [short drive or about 15 min walk], we all congregated in the bar later, what a fantastic night we had. Jo encouraged us to play our guitar and we had a great night. beer was good, and she put on free sandwiches for us.she even donated £20 to our charity cancer research as did one of the locals. We also won the quiz which also went to the charity.she arranged bacon sandwiches next morning for the riders and the support team had a fantastic breakfast in the superb dining room. great place to stop great rooms, fantastic food, good beer ,great staff

Room Tip: room 2 great view of richmond castle

on 30th March 2013 our daughter melanie married kenny and we held the reception at the Holly Hill Inn. The food was apsolutely excellent. The Chef Fiona and the Landlady Jo met with me beforehand to discuss the food, wine etc for the day and they were both extremely helpful with suggestions on which food and wines to have etc. The restaurant is a beautiful room anyway but when we entered the room that day the way the room had been arranged was spectacular. nothing was to much trouble and I would recommend this venue to anyone considering a large party or wedding - or simply a meal for two. we had pimms on arrival and a lovely three course meal followed later on with a fantastic buffet. some people go that extra mile to make something special and Jo and Fiona certainly did that for Melanie and Kenny that day.

My husband 3 children and myself stayed here for 3 nights for a family wedding . The rooms are located at the back of the Inn with a separate entrance to the bars so very safe and quiet . You could not hear any noise from the pub or traffic . Unlike other family members who said their hotels in the town were extremely noisy . The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome . Each morning the chef prepared a breakfast to our individual requests which came out beautifully presented , hot & superb quality . We also ate from the menu on 2 occasions and again the food was excellent with a great choice . On the Sunday we were booked to go to another restaurant with family BUT were disappointed to go once we'd seen the Sunday lunch Fiona ( the chef ) was serving . Overall our 3 night stay has been fantastic and we will definitely be staying at the holly hill inn when we next visit Richmond , as long as Jo Emma & Fiona are still there

Attended a party at this pub recently and decided to stay overnight. Our room was lovely and quiet with plenty of space and a large comfortable double bed and good views. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room and an ensuite bathroom with plenty of hot water. We were pleased enough with this, but the full English Breakfast was the icing on the cake. It was delicious; beautifully cooked and generously portioned. All this with a very friendly set of staff - perfect.

Four of us (two couples) ate here one Friday evening. The set up was professional but friendly, with orders taken and drinks served in the bar before being taken through to the dining room. Or perhaps dining hall, would be more accurate. We ate in January and it was very quiet, which was a shame - the place would have benefitted from a few more customers to generate a bit more atmosphere .

The food was hearty and very pleasant, everyone enjoyed their meal. I would particularly recommend the strawberry meringue dessert. The place offered good value for money and the staff were friendly.

Stopped here randomly on the road from Richmond because I felt a bit peckish. It was Sunday so decided to have the Sunday lunch. It was delightful and had a large portion. Will definitely go back there next time I go to RIchmond. Good selection of real ales too. All round a lovely place to go. Would recommend to all Richmond visitors.
