This was a return visit for my family and I to the Old Mill Centre - we had another great stay! It was the perfect place to spend Easter weekend with our extended family and we are hoping to now make it an annual trip. I can’t recommend highly enough.
We stayed at the old mill for my husbands 40th and it was the perfect setting. The house was lovely and clean and very well equipped for a large group booking.
The surroundings are beautiful. Will definitely recommend and visit again.
Such an amazing place. Beautiful country location and views but so accessible, by road, train and bus! So much cosy space made for a very warm, relaxing weekend
for everyone. The facilities are exceptional in every way, everything we needed was there and so much lovely outdoor space too. Housekeeping was amazing, everything spotless and spot on. The owners were so generous and kind in all our communications, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. There are places where the walls between heaven and earth seem very thin. This is definitely one of them. A very special place .
We have stayed at The Old Mill Centre on two family occasions now, firstly for my mum's 90th birthday and this year for Christmas celebration. The home and surrounding areas are amazing and fulfilled all that we needed for our llarge family. The house has everything you could possibly wish for, a fully stocked kitchen , ample eating area, gorgeous wood burner and on the last occasion a gorgeous Christmas tree. Barbara and Mick are fabulous to do business with, very very helpful and always there to discuss things with. The out building is fabulous for a party with loads of tables and chairs. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants a beautiful, home from home retreat with lots of extras.
We have been going back to the Old Mill Centre every year for our Christian student retreats since 2013! We stayed during winter, summer and spring months and every time it's been amazing. The rooms and facilities are clean and spacious for a group of 20. With hardly any lights for miles stargazing is amazing at night. The separate studio for group activities, services, worship and recreation is the perfect size. There's also table tennis so you can have a midnight tournament.
Barbara is a wonderful host and it's always a pleasure to get in touch with her whenever I start planning our next visit. :)
For anyone looking for a place for spiritual retreat, a large family gathering or looking to spend some quality time relaxing in the countryside with friends and family, its the perfect place to visit.
We held my son's 21st birthday party at the Old Mill and had a great time. The owner & all the staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly & helpful. The facilities, accommodation and location were excellent. The party room/studio was perfect for a party with brilliant sound & video equipment & plenty of space for 60 people. I would highly recommend the Old Mill.
My review of the Old Mill would have been considerably better if I and my friends hadn’t been so insulted by the owner after our departure. After staying two nights and one full day, most of which was spent in Richmond, we received the most appalling communication that we had left the house in a mess......a mess that incurred three extra hours of cleaning, at a cost to us. This is preposterous. I admit that there will have been some superficial tidying, however nothing out of the ordinary and nothing that required deep cleaning. Surely a certain proportion of the rental cost is factored in for cleaning / tidying. We actually prided ourselves on the condition we left the house. Furthermore, to be accused of using too many toilet rolls is a joke. We are all professional people on decent wages who would not lower ourselves to steel cheap toilet rolls. To be accused of taking toilet rolls home is Incredulous. The communication that came from the cleaners, to the owner, has obviously been taken at face value - were these two cleaners after a fast buck? Also, the owner has twice addressed my friend, who booked the stay, the wrong name. How can we be sure that the cleaners or owner even has the right group of people? My only regret is that we didn’t take photographs of the house as we left -our proof that we did indeed leave the house in a decent state, one that two cleaners could easily have turned round for the next occupants in the appropriate timeframe.
On a positive note, Richmond is beautiful and the house is in a good location, as long as you take your own bucket and cleaning equipment so that the cleaners don’t have to lift a finger after you’ve gone. Oh and be conservative with your toilet roll consumption - every sheet counts!
