Awful room, noisy and shower only works properly if you flush toilet at same time(yes don't quite know how ones manages that either).
Unoccupied at night other than guests (if there are any), fire alarm went off 3 times in 5 nights and took over an hour for someone to reply to emergency number.
Not cleaned once in 5 nights, even to empty bin. Despite being charged full nightly rate. Many lovely b&b's in Richmond. Which are also cheaper.

There is little suitable accommodation for the Coast to Coast walk in this area. The Farmers Arms is one of the exceptions. It is situated just over the road bridge into the village. A new foot bridge had just opened as an alternative the day we arrived. The rooms were average size. The ensuite was very cramped with a very small shower cubicle. Both were in need of refurbishment. There was no facility for drying wet clothes nor for muddy boots. They didn't have a supply of newspaper for stuffing into wet boots.
The food served in the bar was outstanding - the best throughout our C2C walk! The room we had was noisy as there was an Elvis impersonator in the bar beneath. However, as we were tired this did not bother us.
Breakfast was a little basic except for the full English which was substantial.
The staff were helpful and mainly friendly.

Room Tip: Avoid the room over the bar area if you want peace and quiet.

A nice pub, but I think the new owners are not quite there when it comes to walkers' needs. When we arrived, they hadn't got us down in their book...But they found us a room which was spacious and very clean. Evening meal in the pub was good, Breakfast was cooked for us by the 18yr old chef, who did really well, bless him - well done Dale - and he had to go off to college. So we were left in the pub completely on our own - felt strange leaving the building without anyone to say bye to us!
