“Excellent Value Pub Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

We were given a very warm welcome when we called in whilst on holiday so hadnt booked, the service was very good and the food lovely, my only negative if it could be called one is that the portions are so big after a starter and main I had no room left for dessert! The large battered mushroom starter is definately worth a try, very tasty. This is not fine dining but the price reflects this and for a pub meal it was great and would definately go again.

“Never mind the quality...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2012

If you like you plate piled high with food; greasy chips; and cheap desserts at high prices then this place could well be just for you.

Even more so if you like good service because it is very good here.

“Real home cooking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2012

Four of us went for an evening meal on a thursday about 7pm . Lots of people were eating already although we were first in the restaurant, which was warm and inviting on a chilly night with the evening sun shining in.We had two mushroom starters which were the best i have had, with garlic dip and salad garnish. Rustic misshapen real mushrooms cooked in light crispy batter . Divine! The other two starters were haddock goujons which were also good but more likely to be the frozen kind.
Two of us chose the Sausage Yorkshire pudding and mash, four huge meaty delicious sausages on a pile of proper mashed potato with a Yorkshire pudding and accompanying vegetables defeated us both but every mouthful was good.To complete the order was one steak pie which was pronounced superb from a regular pie eater and a gammon and egg special which was succulent and tasty although the egg could have been a bit runnier.A bottle of house red completed the order.Service was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Will certainly be going again

“Two Visits In A Week Need We Say More”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2011

We visited the King William in for Sunday lunch (26/6) on passing through Barton and found a hidden gem. Speaking to Rachael (landlady) we discovered it had only been open a matter of weeks. General feel of the place was a friendly and inviting busy little pub. We choose to eat in the restaurant area which holds about 30 people but there were people eating in the bar & lounge area its all quiet relaxed. Main meals with plenty of choice are £7.50 and kids under a fiver , everyone went for the roast beef which was cooked beautifully and the veg and Yorkshire puds were delicious. Even though the portions are generous 3 of us still managed to squeeze in a dessert. Banoffee pie is my recommendation home made guaranteed!.

On the back of this we all went back on the Wednesday night for the tea time special £6.50 with no washing up and smiling service your on to a winner. Steak Pie was amazing nice to find a pie with a pastry base and lid rather than the lidded stew that have appeared lately. We will be visiting again soon and regularly !
