Millgate House is already highly recommended by many for "relaxing breaks" in a wonderful location. However - I would like to add a slightly different perspective. For 3 years now we have used Millgate as our "venue of choice" for senior management workshops that we run. Excellent food and service, wonderful Gala Dinners, outstanding breakfasts/working lunches, excellent "informal" workshop environment in the Coach House, and Tim, Austin, & team providing an unobtrusive but very high quality service makes for very special workshop events which always get rave reviews.
Highly recommended

A great escape! Felt like another world. Can't wait to return ASAP!
Room 1 is sooooo very pleasing and the house is beyond belief with its wonderful contents. Could have spent hours just wandering around.
Thanks to Austin,Tim,staff and dogs for making us feel completely comfortable and very at ease! Nothing was too much trouble and the conversation was most interesting. Thanks again.

I've been visiting Millgate House for many, many years enjoying private dinner parties. Arriving at the discreet entrance and into the hall always draws gasps from those new to the house, such is the setting and atmosphere. All the accolades are well deserved - great food, atmosphere, bedrooms and breakfasts. And the garden...perfect. Well done chaps - keep it up!

I have had the very good fortune to visit Millgate House on several occasions. In November I really hit the jackpot with two visits in one month. The first for my sister's birthday celebrations and the second for a retirement part for a very dear client.

One of the biggest joys for me is visiting with people who have never before had the experience of Millgate House! It delights, charms, amuses and surprises in equal measure.

The food prepared by Austin and Tim and their band of helpers is delicious and beautifully presented. If you have the good fortune to stay overnight, the breakfasts are just superb with something to suit everyone from the diet conscious amongst us (yoghurt and a superb array of fresh fruit) to the full English and everything in between.

Needless to say that on both occasions we also had the good fortune to be entertained by the magician Paul Lytton, regardless of how often I see him, he never fails to amaze.

I can recommend Millgate House as both a B & B with a huge difference or as a venue for a special celebration. it will not disappoint. Thanks Tim and Austin for everything.

When you are offered a glass of wine to have while you soak in the bath after a days walking you know this is a special place!

Beautiful room - very comfortable with every amenity you could need. Great suggestions for an evening out in Richmond.

Breakfast offered everything you could ask for and more and we were late in leaving because we spent so long in the beautiful garden on a wonderful sunny September morning. Staying here I could see why people took a break day on the C2C walk - you could even just abandon it to stay here forever!

Congratulations Tim & Austin on your inclusion in the top 10 B&B list in the Sunday Times - you really deserve it

After walking 9 days of the Coast to Coast my companions and my wife and I were looking forward to a rest day in Richmond.
Millgate House was perfect. Great rooms, comfortable bed, a luxurious bath and the best breakfast. The garden was a lovely retreat in which to read or to have a quiet drink. We wished we could have stayed longer but Robin Hoods Bay called.
We all highly recommend Millgate House and hope to return for a longer stay in the future.

Just got home from a memorable house party at Millgate House. It was Bev's party (black tie), and we were among the 20 guests who sat down to a cordon bleu 5 course meal, following champagne and caviar in the drawing room. We were entertained between courses around the Chippendale table by an international magician par excellance.
The Georgian House, owned and run by Tim and Austin, is packed with antiques, curios, paintings and tapestries, and everything is to an extremely high standard.
Behind the house is the Walled Garden (in the top 20 RHS gardens) and the Coach House with its 5 luxury bedrooms, all with en-suits and a lounge.
It is the sort of place you go for a "special" break or occasion, and we look forward to returning some day.
